Amidst the flow of bad news surrounding Brussels Airlines today, there is sometimes also a ray of sunshine.
The PreCheck of the US Transport Security Administration (TSA) is now also available for passengers of Air France / KLM, Brussels Airlines, Philippine Airlines and World Atlantic. These airlines have been added to the list which now consists of 47 airlines.
Travellers participating in the TSA PreCheck may keep their shoes on, as well as belts and jewellery, at the security check in the US. Furthermore, the hand luggage with laptops and liquids does not have to be unpacked anymore. The TSA claims that in November last year, including during the busy Thanksgiving period, 93 percent of the participants came through the check within five minutes.
To participate in the TSA PreCheck, passengers of the participating airlines must pay a registration fee of $ 85, after which a personal interview must be conducted with a TSA agent. After admission, travellers can use the “PreCheck Security Lanes” at two hundred American airports for five years.
