JetBlue is making waves in the aviation world with two significant developments. The airline is expanding its transatlantic network by adding new destinations in Dublin, Ireland, and Edinburgh, United Kingdom, with daily flights starting in March and May 2024.

In a related move, JetBlue is urging the U.S. Department of Transport to take action against KLM at New York’s JFK airport. This push comes as a response to the downsizing plans at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam. JetBlue fears it may lose landing rights in Amsterdam due to reduced flight movements. In response, the airline is calling for a full ban on KLM flights to and from JFK.

JetBlue argues that the U.S. government could also consider withdrawing certain exemptions for KLM and its alliance. JetBlue has been flying from Schiphol to the U.S. since August and is concerned about the impact of the downsizing plans. To address this issue, the airline suggests KLM transfer part of its landing rights to JetBlue for the upcoming summer season, allowing them to continue operations in Amsterdam.
