This morning (Sunday 3 December) at 11:00 Swissport check-in staff at Amsterdam Schiphol airport held a short 20-minutes work stoppage. The employees are complaining about the heavy workload: “Despite previous punctuality actions Swissport refuses to take measures“.

There may be longer rows at check-in, and the un(loading) of luggages might take more time. “The past months some experienced colleagues left our company because their contract wasn’t renewed“, according to the employees, “besides, Swissport is constantly cutting costs, at the expense of quality“. “Moreover, in recent years the employees have not been financially rewarded for all their hard work.“, a union member added.

For a long time now Swissport employees have been struggling with understaffing, unpredictable and unworkable schedules. Leading to an unhealthy high workload and high absenteeism.

Swissport Schiphol provides services to passengers from TUI, Corendon, SAS, Egyptair, Qatar Airways, Garuda Indonesia, Singapore Airlines and recently also Turkish Airlines.
