Belair Airlines, the Swiss airline headquartered in Glattbrugg operating out of Zürich Airport and Basel–Mulhouse airport is threatened by insolvency. The employees of the airline did not receive their December salary while their January salary can not be paid until mid-January 2018.
These delays in payments are due to the bankruptcy of the Austrian company Niki. The management of the Zurich company remains confident, however, and says it is working hard to find a solution.
Belair was a subsidiary of Air Berlin and operated under the Air Berlin brand name until 31 March 2017, since 1 April 2017 it flew on behalf of Niki. Like Niki, Belair belongs to the bankrupt airline Air Berlin. The latter filed for bankruptcy this summer, triggering the assets sale to Lufthansa and easyJet and the search for a new buyer for Niki.
I don’t understand why there are still employees in a company which ceased operations on 28 October 2017.
