After the International Sanicole Airshow, held in Hechtel-Eksel, Belgium last weekend a F-35 Lightning II (Joint Strike Fighter) scale model was stolen from a exhibition tent.
According to the police the scale model is worth 20,000 € and was stolen together with an advertising panel. Nobody noticed the robbery as next to the exhibition tent a party was on-going. “The replica has a scale of 1/10 and measures around 1,50 meters, possibly some drunk airshow-goers took the model as a souvenir.”
International Sanicole Airshow spokesman Joeri Mombers confirmed the robbery to Het Nieuwsblad: “It’s not known yet how the model got stolen, it’s a shame that things like this happen after such a great weekend.”
