A Dutch investment group, the name of which has not been disclosed, will take over all VLM Airlines activities at Brussels Airport, financial newspaper De Tijd learned from news agency Belga.
Two ex-Thomas Cook Airbus A320s, painted in a hybrid VLM Airlines livery last November but stalled at Brussels Airport most of the time, and around 40 employees, also ex-Thomas Cook, will switch companies. The Dutch investor will keep focusing on charter and ad-hoc flights, like VLM, but is also planning long-haul flights between Europe and Asia with Airbus A330s.
The holding company SHS Aviation will now consist of two parts: VLM Airlines Antwerp with Fokker 50 operations, and VLM Airlines Slovenia. VLM Airlines was granted its Belgian AOC to operate Airbus A320 and Fokker 50 aircraft only in November 2017 . It is unclear whether the VLM Airlines Brussels brand will remain.
Yesterday it was announced that CEO Karl Rickard left VLM Airlines after only two months on the job.
