The ver.di union has once again called for a strike by ground handling on Friday, March 10th, 2017 at the Berlin-Tegel airports. The strike will have a considerable impact on the air traffic to and from Berlin and, unfortunately, passengers should expect delays, flight cancellations and, in particular, significant disruptions in baggage handling.
In order to reduce baggage claim waiting times in Berlin, we recommend all passengers travel only with hand baggage if possible. Please transport valuables (e.g. car keys, house keys, jewellery, laptops, medicines, etc.) exclusively in your hand baggage.

airberlin asks all passengers whose domestic flight to and from Berlin was cancelled due to the strike to exchange their flight ticket for a free Deutsche Bahn train voucher. You will receive the voucher upon presentation of your travel confirmation (boarding pass or ticket number) at any airberlin airport ticket counter. In addition, we have set up an airberlin service counter at the Berlin-Tegel airport on gate position A2, in terminal A. In order to reduce voucher exchange waiting times, we ask all passengers to have their travel confirmation ready.
Passengers which flights are cancelled due to strike at Berlin-Tegel airport on March 10th, 2017 may rebook their flight to an alternative date or obtain a refund. Please contact your airberlin service center for further details of your options. Passengers whose flight is part of a package holiday should contact their respective tour operator or travel agent.
