Turkish Airlines flight TK1945, an Airbus A320 registered TC-JPR, which was on its way from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen (SAW) to Brussels (BRU), had to make an emergency landing at Vienna Schwechat airport on 9 October 2017. Potentially poisonous oil fumes were the reason for the emergency landing.
One of the passengers, Luc Ceulemans, who was in flight with his wife, told Het Laatste Nieuws that the oxygen masks fell down and the plane initiated a dive to perform an emergency landing. “There was a lot of panic on the plane, including among the many children on board. Once the plane had landed, everybody was quickly taken out of the plane,” he told the editor.
According to Austrian media, there was no injury, and the passengers have never been in danger. The plane is still on the airport’s tarmac and is being examined by technical services.
The return flight BRU-SAW TK1946 has been cancelled.
