A TUI fly plane had to land in Luxembourg instead of Saarbrücken, its final destination, for security reasons, this Saturday around 14:00, said newspaper Tageblatt. Leaving around 10:00 from Fuerteventura, one of the Canary Islands (Spain), the Boeing 737-800 registered D-ATUE carried 71 passengers and six crew members on flight X3-2643.

A “minor technical irregularity” led pilots to land in Luxembourg, said a spokesman for the airline quoted by Tageblatt. The aircraft was followed by the firefighters as soon as it touched the ground and until it was completely stopped. According to TUI, however, passengers’ lives were never in danger.

The passengers were taken to Saarbrücken by bus and arrived around 17:00, a little more than 3 hours later than expected.
