TAP’s regional fleet brand won the European Regional Airlines Association (ERA) Airline of the Year award

TAP Express operated by Portugália Airlines and TAP’s regional fleet brand, was a winner at the European Regional Airlines Association (ERA) annual awards yesterday in Athens, Greece.

TAP’s regional airline won the Airline of the Year award, which praised the total renewal of the Portugália fleet and the retraining of its pilots, engineers and cabin crew over a 12-month period.

The birth of TAP Express in 2016 was the beginning of a new cycle for Portugália Airlines. In addition to the rebranding project, the phase-in of nine Embraer E190s simultaneously with the phase-out of another two fleets (six Fokker F100s and eight Embraer E145s), involving almost 3,800 training hours, resulted in a huge effort from the entire company”, said Luiz Plácido Lapa, managing director of TAP Express. “It is a great honour to receive this recognition as a sign that our mission is complete. We believe that TAP Express is already a brand cherished by clients and it is for this we work every day”.

The Airline of the Year award celebrates the excellence, success and entrepreneurial spirit within our regional aviation”, said Paula Bangle, director of ERA’s business development, corporate communications and membership. “TAP Express operated by Portugália, this year’s winner, made important gains that demonstrate a significant turnaround in a complex and challenging local market, where the management team have performed superbly.” She added: “Congratulations to the entire team at TAP Express operated by Portugália.”

At the same ceremony Luiz Plácido Lapa, managing director of Portugália, also won the ERA Award for Personal Excellence.
