The pilots of Brussels Airlines will vote in the coming days on the final proposal of the management regarding their salaries and pensions. If the proposal was to be rejected, “strong actions” are not excluded, said the unions on Wednesday.
The social conflict within the largest Belgian airline has been going on for some time. According to Paul Buekenhout of the LBC-NVK trade union, the remuneration of the Brussels Airlines pilots is lower than that of other airlines. They also contest the retirement age at 67.
Management made a final proposal and presented it to the pilots. Their decision will be known on May 2nd. In case of refusal, actions will be quickly organised. “We will then introduce a strike notice and we will organise strong actions,” adds Paul Buekenhout. Some 500 pilots work at Brussels Airlines.
Brussels Airlines: Bestemming niet duidelijk
Vanaf vandaag kan de pilotengemeenschap zich uitspreken over het ultieme voorstel zoals dit door de directie gisteren op tafel werd gelegd. Aangaande pensioenen, work-life balance en verloning werd immers een aantal weken onderhandeld ingevolge een verzoeningsvergadering. Tot 4 mei kan de pilotengemeenschap zich uitspreken over dit concrete voorstel , waarna eventueel harde acties mogelijk zijn.
Onderhuids is er meer aan de hand. Sinds de ‘wissel van de macht’ twee maanden geleden, is er nog geen concrete duidelijkheid gekomen over de concrete toekomstplannen binnen de Eurowings Group. De nieuwe directie laat nauwelijks in zijn kaarten kijken. Het effect op aantal vluchten en tewerkstelling op middellange termijn is onduidelijk. De beslissing om de Cargo afdeling, die winstgevend is nota bene, uit te sourcen naar Lufthansa was het eerste wapenfeit en boezemt weinig hoop in.
De ACLVB wil dat er snel klare wijn geschonken wordt: een duidelijk groeiscenario voor Brussels Airlines, met plaats voor iedereen die zich de voorbije jaren dubbel heeft geplooid voor de maatschappij.
