  • Airline’s 2018 Summer schedule features new weekend flights
  • Choice of up to 92 flights a week to and from Scotland
  • Two routes serving Aberdeen and Edinburgh have ‘exceeded forecasts’
  • Above average On-Time Performance

Flybe has marked the first year anniversary of its operations from Terminal 2 at Heathrow where it serves Scotland with routes to Aberdeen and Edinburgh. Both routes continue to exceed forecasts and having recently benefited from extra early morning flights on Saturdays and Sundays from Edinburgh, and on Sundays from Aberdeen.

To mark the occasion, Flybe’s Regional Sales Manager Pirkko Capone joined Heathrow’s Head of Customer Relations & Service, Tonia Fielding for a cake cutting ceremony.

The airline, that operates the only modern turboprop aircraft flying to and from the international hub, has wasted no time in making its own particular mark at Heathrow, achieving top ranking for its noise and emissions performance in the airport’s latest ‘Fly Quiet and Green’ league table (Q4 2017). In addition, Flybe’s On-Time Performance record stands at 85.1% within 15 minutes arrival time (Feb 2018), above target and above the Heathrow average.

With up to four daily services to Edinburgh and three to Aberdeen, Flybe’s flights link to a large network of onward global connections for travellers from Scotland as well as making it easy for inbound tourists and investors to visit Scotland’s capital and the Granite City.  Passengers are increasingly taking advantage of the convenient connections onto its codeshare partners that include Virgin Atlantic, Emirates, Etihad, Singapore Airlines and Star Alliance’s extensive network of global destinations – all served directly from Heathrow.

Roy Kinnear, Flybe’s Chief Commercial Officer, comments: “Our flights from Edinburgh and Aberdeen to Heathrow have proved a significant boost to our UK domestic route network. We’ve been extremely pleased with their performance and it’s clear there is strong customer demand. The two routes provide a good choice of connections between Scotland and London, and onward to important global markets with our codeshare partners. As one of Heathrow’s smaller operators, we are also obviously very proud to have outperformed most of the biggest and best airlines in the world for our environmental performance.

Simon Eastburn, Director of Airline Business Development at Heathrow said, “We’ve been delighted with Flybe’s first year, offering passengers more choice on routes to Aberdeen and Edinburgh and distinguishing itself in its noise and emissions performance. We hope travellers to and from Scotland continue to enjoy the Heathrow services on offer at Terminal 2, voted World’s Best Airport Terminal by Skytrax.
