Tuesday, 31.10.2017 easyJet and lux-Airport celebrated the start of the new route to Berlin-Schönefeld. For this winter season, easyJet will operate the route on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The flights are departing in Luxembourg at 16:00h for an arrival in Berlin-Schönefeld at 17:25h. The flights from Berlin-Schönefeld arrive in Luxembourg at 15:25h after departing Berlin at 13:55h

Berlin-Schönefeld is the second Berlin airport and one of the largest European low-cost airline hubs. It is a gateway to Berlin City for tourism, clubbing or meetings. Due to its location south of Berlin, direct on the highway system, it also serves Brandenburg and the Eastern Region of Poland.

The beginning of this winter season also marked the 5th anniversary of easyJet operations in Luxembourg. easyJet was the first Low-Cost Airline in Luxembourg starting flights to London-Gatwick on 29th October 2012. easyJet already served nearly 1 million passengers in these 5 years in Luxembourg on flights to London-Gatwick, Milan-Malpensa, Lisbon, Porto and now Berlin-Schönefeld.

Francois Bacchetta, easyJet Country Director for France:

“We are really happy to celebrate this double milestone in Luxembourg. As the first low cost carrier operating Luxembourg since 2012 this 5th anniversary highlights our long term relationship with the airport. We hope this new route to Berlin with 3 weekly frequencies will attract both leisure and business passengers at both side of the route enhancing tourism activity and benefiting the local economy.”

Johan Vanneste, CEO of lux-Airport commented:

With more than 20 flights each week to a total of 5 destinations, easyJet is the 4th largest airline at Luxembourg Airport. As a result, easyJet played an important role in the diversification of the product offering at the airport: today our customers have a clear choice between various full-service airlines with worldwide connections and airlines which offer very attractive fares on point to point routes. This mix has contributed to the increased attractiveness of Luxembourg Airport in the Greater Region which is greatly appreciated by ever more passengers.”
