
An Algerian Air Force aircraft has crashed on Wednesday 11 April north of the country (in Wilaya de Blida), close to Boufarik Airport. According to several eyewitnesses, the Ilyushin Il-76 crashed shortly after take-off.
Boufarik Airport (ICAO: DAAK) is a military airport near Boufarik, Algeria. The based aircraft are Beechcraft 1900, EADS CASA C-295, Lockheed C-130 Hercules and the belated Ilyushin Il-76.
Algerian media were initially reporting that at least 105 passengers eere feared dead, but later the toll was raised to 257 victims: 247 passengers and 10 crew.
