Brussels Airlines pilot strike: The Belgian Cockpit Association BeCA supports their pension claims

On May 4, a survey organised by the pilot representatives revealed that the vast majority of Brussels Airlines pilots reject the proposals that their management has formulated in response to their request for a better balance between private and professional life. The pilots declared to be ready to carry out social actions. On May 9, the official announcement was made: the pilots will be on strike on May 14th and 16th.

Most of the problems are related to an ever more demanding work pace, combined with a completely unrealistic retirement age. BeCA, the only association representing airline pilots in Belgium, fully supports them on this subject.

Since 2012, BeCA has continuously raised public awareness of the pension issue and has repeatedly warned politicians concerned about the problems of increasing the retirement age from 55 to 67 years for the pilots.

BeCA hopes that the current events will lead to a much-needed change in mentality and lead to the establishment of a sustainable and sustainable pension system for the aviation staff in Belgium.

Once the pension problem has been resolved, all other issues will become much easier to manage. And this, without harming any airline, says BeCA.
