On the 2018 ITB Berlin, world’s leading travel trade show, Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker today announced a major expansion plan for 2018-2019. The Gulf carrier will expand its worldwide network to the following fifteen destinations:

Four destinations on the ‘new’ list, however, have previously been announced: Mykonos, Cardiff, Thessaloniki and Lisbon.
According to web site Onemileatatime we have to take the announcement with a grain of salt, the airline is notorious for announcing new destinations and actually never flying to them. For example, last April Qatar Airways announced flights to San Francisco, Las Vegas, Cardiff, Malaga, Mykonos, Accra, Kiev, Lisbon, Prague, Chittagong, Mombasa and Abidjan.
How did the airline do? The San Francisco, Las Vegas, Accra, Mombasa, Abidjan, and Chittagong flights never happened while the Cardiff, Lisbon, and Malaga flights are being “recycled” again this year as “never before announced” routes.
Like Onemileatatime, we are also curious about which destinations will be launched in 2018-2019.
