Austrian 65 and 12 ,on order
That is already a better comparison. And not in favour of SN

The 2nd new a330 is confirmed?
So 11 long haul planes?
What destination would it serve?
Re: Brussels Airlines in 2023
The 2nd will probably serve as a back-up plane for the time beingbrabel wrote: ↑22 Oct 2023, 21:16What destination would it serve?
Re: Brussels Airlines in 2023
Maybe off topic; but can we please stop the constant bashing on SN ?
SN ain't perfect ( you are never gonna hear me say otherwise ) but overall, it is doing OK with a slow but steady growth process.
We should be proud that we still have a national airline that is doing OK and that is steadily growing.
Belgium (and Brussels) is not a great market to grow in, let's not forgot that.
I see a lot of other companies in Belgium in the aviation industry that are not doing well for themselves and that are FAR WORSE off than SN (including KF, but also the companies under the Orizio Group, Asco, Sonaca,... heck, even Safran is not doing great in Liege)
The plan is clear: Steady grow and no suicidal decisions like buying 34 brand new aircraft for new destinations that can't be paid for. Wait.. that surely rings a bell, no...? November 2001 anyone?
SO PLEASE, can we get a little bit more positive note here on SN ?

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2023
In those 12 on order, 9 of them are for the renewal of the long haul fleet.
Stop comparing apple and oranges there is a difference between fleet expension and fleet renewal.
For the moment there is still no plan released for S24. At the moment for the fleet expension the only thing we know is that there a 10th A330 coming, but of course there will be more than 1 aircraft expention for S24. Wait the sheduled to be released.
The comparison with Luxair is just plain stupid, in those aircraft ordered, most of them are for renewal and planned for 2026. Some member are comparing a long term plan of Luxair with a short term plan of SN. If sn goes to a rate of 4-5 aircraft expension per year, where do you think SN will be is S26? Spoiler alert: around 60 aircraft.

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2023
Hello,
They are difficult to be compared.
SN is more like a network airline with leisure destinations.
LG network covers Europe and Mediterranean leisure destinations.
A big difference beside the different size is that only SN has a long haul fleet.
Luxair : 2.05 million passengers transported in 2022.
Orders are made to replace older aircrafts.
Brussels Airlines : 6.8 million passengers transported in 2022

Does anyone know the numbers expected for 2023.
I assume that will be > 8,0 million, no? Still far from the > 10,0 million in the past, but progress is clear (taking into account we had COVID, the unrest in different places ...).
Cheers,
Danny

Does anyone know how the bookings for Nairobi are doing?
We are preparing a project over there and it would be great to be able to use a direct connection ...

Not only off topic but also not relevant and repetitive, this is a forum not a fanclub!
People are free to give their opinion, that’s what forums are for, as long as it’s done politely.
When people make wrong comparisons, just point out the inconsistency, but don’t feel attacked or bullied.

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2023
If there’s going to be 60 aircraft as hinted above - can we expect maybe some seasonal routes to become year round? Would be interesting to see how many new A320/330s will join and what the route network will look like. Sounds like a good plan to have 1 a330 on standby - Aegean has had that idea with an A320 for many years already.

This is also my idea about a forum.fcw wrote: ↑23 Oct 2023, 14:01Not only off topic but also not relevant and repetitive, this is a forum not a fanclub!

Freedom of opinion and no exclusion of ideas.
I still believe that SN and BRU are very UNDER-,performing. With a catchment area of at least 20million people they should do better.
A few months ago Mr.Feist said in an interview that he was aiming at 1 million Dutch customers.
A week later a read an interview with CEO of Dusseldorf airport. They go for .. 2 million Dutch customers.
Hope this comparison is acceptable for the SN and BRU fans.
I am also fan, but not a happy one.

Fair enough, but people keep repeating the same thing someone before they already said multiple times. It gets annoying, this board is already bleed out from interesting people leaving due to the same things being repeated over and over again.fcw wrote: ↑23 Oct 2023, 14:01Not only off topic but also not relevant and repetitive, this is a forum not a fanclub!

I fully agree with Conti764, it starts to be annoying the people who are all the time bashing, repeating over and over again the same issues. Maybe find another hobby where you feel more happy.Conti764 wrote: ↑23 Oct 2023, 15:58Fair enough, but people keep repeating the same thing someone before they already said multiple times. If SN can grow on a slower by solid way, we only should applaud it. Don't forget that they also have not easy unions who can start a strike at any time.
2 extra A330 and 5 new A320NEO is already very nice for the very near future.

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2023
It is alawys good to calibrate fleet orders.
Luxair is a stand alone airline and might need to take long term decisions.
Austrian and SN are Part of the LH Group and can benefit all time from group orders or shifts in the group fleet.
SN has for the time being a clear Strategy :
- gradual shift from A319 to 320 on short haul
- punctual support from LH for additional aircraft
- punctual support from LH on long haul as B789 are delivered and A330 can be shifted over

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2023
It seems that today SN flew from BMA to BRU for the last time.
