Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Could it be that SN's first A320neo will be delivered in January '23 with msn 11,600 and immatriculation 00-SBA?
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Saw on FR24, futur OO-SSY, will be delivered today with the old registration ( OE-LDE ) on an OS flight ( OS1472 ) but the flight is cancelled. Maybe crew1990 have some informations Thx
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Given the fact flywim post about his change of flight to HAM. I can now say it I guess.
Brussels Airlines will fly again with smaller frame starting in April with 2 CRJ900 wetleased from Cityjet for S23 and as it's already loaded in the booking engine I can say that Billund is coming back in the network. Another one should be coming too but I don't see it yet in the booking engine
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
And some more cruchy news for 2024 to be annonced today...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
The strategic roadmap is to have at least internal an all A320 fleet.
I'd rather suppose more A333 to come, as Swiss is preparing to launch the A359 and only 9 A333 are planned (as of today) for a cabin fit with the new products.
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
I feel like the way Brussels Airlines implement major changes in the fleet is per "waves"
The first wave was the removal of the 737-300 and 737-400
The second one was the removal of the Avro's
The third was the renewal of the A330's fleet
The fourth one is happening now with the harmonisation of the A319/A320 into 320neo's
All those "waves" required a lot of phase in and phase out of aircraft wich can be done with sufficient workforce, I do not think that it's possible now to add a new aircraft type on our own.
My guess is that the wet lease fleet will grow and when all A320's will be harmonised then SN could take her own subfleet of smaller jet if they can get minimum 10 frames. If less than 10 beter to stick to wet-lease's.
I'm also pretty sure that we gonna inherit from the A330's from Lufthansa and Swiss while Austrian would get A330's and A340's to replace their old boeing before a full renewal of the long haul fleet for both SN and OS

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
The 340 are targeted to leave the fleets.
The ufthansa 343 are Planet to be replaced with 789, Swiss seem to be with 359, Edelweiss likely few years later with ???
SN is already upgauged from 332 to 333 thus there would be likely only punctual expansion with additional 333 and a replacement of the long haul fleet would be due around the end of this decade.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Very good to see that finally after a few decades there will be factory new planes for SN. Also important that there will be "new" destinations and higher frequenties. This means that the trust is back.
An other important step, more to keep it social calm is hiring much more crew and the pay back of the loan this month.
Let's hope that in a year or 2 the feeders will high enough to open new long haul routes

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Indeed DLH/SWR A343 are due to leave but still can be used as a back-up solution before a full renewal for Austrian 777oldblueeyes wrote: ↑08 Dec 2022, 14:37 The 340 are targeted to leave the fleets.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
A long haul fleet renewal for SN by the end of the decade (2029-2030), seven years from now ? OMG !
Does anyone know the age of each SN long haul aircraft or their average age ? Thanks

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
A little basic sector knowledge would help not to post emotional statements.
First of all, all data of the aircraft is public on many sites. You can take a view here, for example :
https://sites.google.com/view/europeanairlinefleets/bel
So you'll see that the current long haul fleet joined the company at an average age of around 10 years, at least if we do not speak about ex Lufthansa A333 based previously in DUS.
And you would know that the Lufthansa Group is using its long haul aircraft roughly until it is 25 years old.
Therefore, and educated guess would be that around 2030 there will be a renewal of the fleet : first because the oldest ex LH 333 would be than 25 years old, second because the typical industry 12 years lease ( maybe slightly longer now due to aircraft unutilisation during COVID times) would have a landing point around 2030.
And last but not least, if we are looking to the market of the current generation aircraft, both B789 as well as A359 are launched at the mid of the 2010's and this is matching as well the first wave of half life aircraft coming out of leasings around 2029.
Does it makes sense?
