I heard that TUI is installing a brand new 737 NG FTD simulator made in Belgium in their new building in Zaventem.
Thought I read it before & found it -> It was mentioned last year in the news section: https://www.aviation24.be/airlines/tui-f ... programme/
Besides the sim a cabin for fire and smoke training too, according to the article.
Serious tail strike for OO-JAY (737-800) at Marrakech on 02nd May 2018 (landing TB-3640):
...A TUI Belgium Boeing 737-800, registration OO-JAY performing flight TB-3640 from Brest (France) to Marrakesh (Morocco), landed on Marrakesh's runway 10 at 12:18L (12:18Z) but struck its tail onto the runway surface on touchdown. The aircraft rolled out without further incident and taxied to the apron. There were no injuries, the aircraft sustained substantial structural damage however. The aircraft was unable to depart for its return flight and is currently still on the ground in Marrakesh 20 days later...

TUI fly Belgium took delivery of OO-JPT, B738, MSN 34691, ex D-ATUZ (TUI fly Germany)
This aircraft was in service with Jetairfly between 2012 and 2015 and is painted in RIU Hotels & Resorts special colours.
I remember that there was also a B738 that would be registered OO-LIS (https://www.tuifly.be/nl/onze-vloot), is there someone who knows when the delivery of OO-LIS is planned?
Despite all the good news about deliveries of new aircraft, TuiFly Operations is clearly struggling when issues occur with its fleet. OO-JEB is already out-of-service for 3 days at ANR, and the only soluiion they can find, is putting the pax on a bus to BRU or OST. We had occassionally B737 flights on ANR (BA, Aer Lingus, Maersk, SAS, etc), but for TuiFly that is not possible (although with max 120 pax this should be no problem). But even if they do not want to send a 737, they could swap an EMB190 which is now flying from BRU or CRL and replace it there by a 737.
Apparently pax flying from ANR are less important for TuiFly, that these pax lose lots of ‘holiday’ time is insignificant. I hope the press does not get to hear this... I am a big fan of TuiFly and I am very happy that they believe in the regional airports, specially at ANR. But TuiFly Ops must improve, they should support ANR operations not boycot them.
Those flights probably weren’t anywhere near the load TUI would need, even when considering the difference in power etc.
If I don’t forget, I might have a look later tonight at whether or not a 737 could viable take off from ANR with a reasonable load.
Timelapse video about the installation of the fixed base flight simulator in the Tui/Tec4jets Hangar in BRU. It will be certified in early June and will be ready for the first training sessions in September.

No, that is not difficult on a fixed base sim. In fact you start on a sim and then finally you go to a short-field airport as co-pilot with the chief pilot as captain. And then you completed your training.
