The European Commission updated the EU Air Safety List, adding seven air carriers registered in Angola due to the fact that they no longer hold a valid AOC. In addition, two new air carriers registered in Angola were included in the EU Air Safety List.
An additional six airlines are subject to operational restrictions and can only fly to the EU with specific aircraft types: Afrijet (Gabon), Nouvelle Air Affaires (Gabon), Air Koryo (North Korea), Air Service Comores, Iran Air and TAAG (Angola).

Re: European Commission aviation blacklist
IMHO, the most important change is that TAAG (Angola) was removed from the EU blacklist and can return to flying without restrictions in European airspace.Passenger wrote: ↑16 Apr 2019, 16:06 Press release 16/04/2019:

1) Armenia’s CAA has been placed under increased monitoring by EU safety authorities as part of a revision of the EC airline blacklist.
2) EU removed all airlines from Gabon from its blacklist, after safety improvements in the country were made.

Re: European Commission aviation blacklist
This topic is probably the one that is the most relevant for this news:
Aviation-safety.net reports: "...The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced that the Venezuelan regime does not comply with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) safety standards under the International Aviation Safety Assessment (IASA) program and has been assigned a Category 2 rating... A Category 2 IASA rating means the country either lacks laws or regulations necessary to oversee air carriers in accordance with minimum international standards, or its civil aviation authority is deficient in one or more areas, such as technical expertise, trained personnel, record-keeping, inspection procedures, or resolution of safety concerns. At this time there are no flights between the United States and Venezuela..."

- Avior Airlines (Venezuela),
- Blue Wing Airlines (Suriname),
- Iran Aseman Airlines (Iran),
- Iraqi Airways (Iraq),
- Med-View Airlines (Nigeria),
- Air Zimbabwe (Zimbabwe).
An additional three airlines are subject to operational restrictions and can only fly to the EU with specific aircraft types:

Re: European Commission aviation blacklist
They were banned indeed by EASA for six months, starting 3th July 2020:
https://www.aviation24.be/airlines/paki ... ix-months/
Maybe the European Commission didn't included them in their list because the EASA ban probably ends 31st Dec 2020, meaning that an appearance in a the EU blacklist dated 08th Dec 2020 would be outdated as from 1st Jan 2021?

Armenia’s CAA says it will take at least two and a half years for the seven Armenian airlines to leave the EU blacklist
