Italy's civil aviation authority ENAC threatened to suspend Ryanair's permit to fly to the country citing non-compliance with COVID-19 safety rules. ENAC said in a statement that "Ryanair systematically does not comply" with national regulations to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission when flying to and from Italian airports.

On 16th July 2020, a Türkish couple boarded Ryanair flight FR-1145, operated by Malta Air Boeing 737-800 9H-QAI. During boarding, the 50-year old man and the 45-year old woman already showed first symptoms of the virus: soar throat and coughing. After landing at Berlin Schönefeld, the couple simply drove home to their four children (9-21) and mother-in-law. Only after six days, the went to visit a doctor. The same day, the Berlin Health Service “Gesundheidamt Berlin Spandau” asked Ryanair for the contact details of the other passengers, in order to do the tracking & tracing. Ryanair only replied with a GDPR filtered (thus useless) list of surnames and first names. “There was no feedback”, Gudrun Widders, medical doctor of the Gesundheitsamt Berlin, reported to Bild Zeiting (“Es gab keine Rückmeldung”). Only on 27th July, Ryanair finally provided the full contact details.

A Ryanair spokeswoman said to Aviation24.be: “... We received the request from the Health Department of the Berlin-Spandau District Office on July 22nd and Ryanair responded the same day with the appropriate documentation to release the flight manifest under GDPR regulations. The German health authorities only followed up 5 days later (July 27th) and we supplied the requested passenger details”.

We can’t blame Manchester Airport and Ryanair for not having observed that the passengers were coughing. But it was malicious from Ryanair, not to provide the contact & tracing details upon first request. Airlines should avoid such incidents to avoid a full flight ban.

It’s really business as usual - as if Covid-19 doens't exist - for Ryanair.

Newspaper De Standaard reports that the Belgian Social Inspection has inspected the Ryanair offices at CRL Charleroi Airport, and that they have identified multiple violations against Covid-19 rules:
- information to staff about precautions is inadequate;
- staff must buy their masks and disinfectant gel themselves;
- social disting is not respected;
- not all pilots wear face masks;
- lunch room is not cleaned when used, and even not ventilated.

The Social Inspection has issued a formal warning, and they will use other means when Ryanair doesn’t comply to the rules.

As usual, Ryanair told De Standaard that they respect the EASA guidelines.

We see most airlines storing for undefined periods their A380’s. Or even withdrawing them from service. Presumingly because they are too big / costly for the low current passenger demand. Anybody knows what happens with most 748 PAX fleet ? FR24 shows some activity of the LH fleet, what is so different of operating some A380’s ? Has the 748 a cost advantage ? Or other advantage ?

the 747-8 actually has a little bit more cargo space and has a lower operating cost while doing so.

Can someone explain this ?
"Ryanair cuts flight schedules by 20% in September and October as bookings drop due to restrictions"
Is the aviation world still in total denial ?
Passenger drop is >50% and they still create new routes and pretend schedule will only change by 20% ?
Driving in the wall at 300Kmh ?
My messages reflect my personal opinion which may be different than yours. I beleive a forum is made to create a debate so I encourage people to express themselves, the way they want, with the ideas they want. I expect the same understanding in return.

I think it needs to be understood as :
“Ryanair cuts flight schedule by a FURTHER 20%”

The 3 codes green, orange and red are travel advisories for non-essential travel only. Example: holiday flights are non-essential travel. Flying back home is essential travel. With "code orange", touroperators are allowed to perform the tour, if the touroperator thinks it is possible to do so safely and if the travel contract can be honoured.

Example, code orange: travel to Greece now. A Covid-19 PCR certificate is obliged and there are local rules that apply. When this is advised to the clients, and when they accept a non compulsary quarantaine upon return: off they go.

Example, code red: travel to Denmark now. The touroperator is not allowed to perform the tour. Could be for different reasons - example tourists from risk area Belgium are not allowed. When the reason for code red is general, Belgian individual tourists may ignore that code red, but the Belgian insurers (medical and private) will not give cover.

Back to the code red and flights to the Balearic now: a lot of Belgian citizens want to come back now, so a lot of repat flights are being organized. Example:
https://www.aviation24.be/airlines/tui- ... o-belgium/

With the absence of tour operator pax, Belgians who have a second residence there can find cheap tickets today...
