Post by Mighty »

The low cost carrier AirAsia has placed an order for 6 A320's. They also took another 40 aircraft in option. This is 20 more than expected. The A320's are going to give place to 180 pax.

With this order AirAsia will be the biggest operator of A320s in Asia!

Now they are operating B737's

Airbus said on Friday that Malaysia's AirAsia had increased a firm order for 40 of its A320 aircraft to 60.

Airbus said in a statement that the low-fare, no-frills Asian airline had, in addition, an option for 40 more of the planes under a memorandum of understanding signed on December 17.

AirAsia said on Thursday that it was looking at adding 20 more aircraft, taking its firm order to 60.

General Electric will supply engines to Malaysian low-cost airline Air Asia for 40 Airbus A320 aircraft.

GE and French partner Snecma build the CFM-56 engine. The other engine available for the A320 is the V2500 from IAE, a consortium led by Rolls-Royce and Pratt and Whitney, the aero-engine division of United Technologies. 8)
