Just be careful with it, it's a wishlist. The same with Philippine Airlines coming to BRU. Just PR-nothing more.

BRU doesn't need to be on wishlists, they need to be actually flown.

I don't want to sound pessimistic, but it is. And everything depends also on the government. An airport can wish as much as they want, it's still the government who has to give green light.

There are more urgent destinations like Singapore, Hong Kong and much more flights to Tokio. This is urgent, not Jeddah.

I agree Atlantis but seeing Saudia at BRU would be another nice addition for sure.

Saudi Arabia is investing enormously in tourism the next years, wants to become a big player in the holiday business, so seems logical that they would look at BRU as possible destination..

For now Saudi Arabia is not a touristic destination anywhere in the world (besides gcc), that s why they want to open up... To become a touristic destination. Check the Saudi 2030 vision.
So it is logical to fly from more destinations, including BRU. Zavcity is right about it.

Leisure destinations from BRU more then enough, but this is not high yield. Much better would be if DL could re_install again ATL and the Asian countries like I mentioned before. Especially as those are Star Alliance carriers, except DL.

If they want to fly Leisure from BRU, they can also again their cargo from BRU with the B748F.

Well, they are trying to do the same as Dubai and Qatar. Attract tourists and be a hub to fly further into Asia. The government tries to diversify their oil-based economy, so they look at their neighbors and take over what they think is good.

I would also like to see more Asian destinations instead of middle eastern ones, but they can open routes when and where they want of course.

If you want to see their B747-8F fleet at BRU, you will have to search for AirBelgium logo's. They only have T7 and 747-400F.

Yeah right. Let them become an attractive touristic destination for Belgians before talking about a direct route between JED & BRU... :?

Well, they want to do that by creating the demand I suppose. They changed visa policy, they are investing in mega projects to attract tourists, and so on.
Next to local tourism, they want to create a new hub like the ME3. Neither Qatar or even Abu Dhabi is a touristic hotspot from Belgium (only Dubai is), yet I see planes are full because of the hub function. This is also what Saudia is aiming for.

So the total increase is from 37 to 49/week for these 4 destinations. Quite an expansion ...

Does anyone know the other destinations they (still) serve from Brussels, and their frequencies? I thought at least Madrid, Bilbao, Santiago de Compostella ... Also Sevilla?

Cheers,
Danny

An interesting thing to note is that they will also be operating a scheduled charter to San Sebastian next month

In a 5th freedom request to the US DOT (see below), Biman Bangladesh mentions New York as a “beyond the point” for BRU and DEL
New York JFK, Newark, Boston, Houston, Los Angeles, Dallas and Washington are all their US targets

(Date unknown but I couldn't find any other suitable topic)
