Based at BRU?
Re: Airbus A380 news
Why not? The A380 gates will be available!
But HiFly aircraft may be based at many places.

It's going to be too expensive as back up for most of our carriers, me thinks:sn26567 wrote: ↑04 Apr 2018, 23:41Why not? The A380 gates will be available!

HiFly says the first Rolls-Royce Trent 900-powered aircraft will arrive in mid-2018 and will be operated “worldwide”, with a 471-seat configuration. This includes 399 seats on the main deck with 60 business-class and 12 first-class seats on the upper deck – the configuration used by Singapore Airlines.
Hi Fly, first ACMI company to wet-lease the Airbus A380
Hi Fly proudly received today its first Airbus A380, the world’s largest and most spacious airliner. The arrival is a major event for the Company, making it the 4th European airline operating the model, the 14th global operator and the first leasing airline to fly the aircraft.

Hi Fly says that less than 24 hours after it presented its A380 at Farnborough, it has agreed to the first wet lease contract with an undisclosed "well established European carrier". The aircraft will be flying long-haul sectors during summer period with possible extension.

Re: Airbus A380 news
The "well established 'European' carrier" seems to be African after all. Air Austral, from Reunion Island, plans to wet lease an A380 from Hi Fly from August or September 2018, flying between Reunion and Paris. The superjumbo will replace the carrier’s B787 undergoing maintenance. No doubt which aircraft the passengers will prefer!sn26567 wrote: ↑22 Jul 2018, 17:38 Hi Fly says that less than 24 hours after it presented its A380 at Farnborough, it has agreed to the first wet lease contract with an undisclosed "well established European carrier". Re: Airbus A380 news
Hmmm... not very accurate, if I may say so....
Réunion, part of 'La République', part of the European Union and, something not every European country/ region can claim, also part of the Eurozone.
But indeed, based 9000+ km from Brussels, 'Air Austral' doesn't exactly cross ones mind when thinking about a 'European carrier'

Haha, some might call you "pedantic", @Dibo, but to me you are only stating fact and thus totally correct. Well done indeed! (as I recently said to another "pedantic", too
)

Re: Airbus A380 news
You're beaten, Air Austral. On Wednesday, August 1, 2018, Hi Fly’s A380 will be operating a charter flight on behalf of Thomas Cook Scandinavia between Copenhagen, Denmark, and Larnaca, Cyprus. The A380, which has the tail number 9H-MIP, just flew positioning flight DK4504 from Beja (BYJ) to Copenhagen (CPH).
It will operate DK1102 at 13:00, replacing an A321!

Return on 25 August: UU978 CDG-RUN 17:00-06:00+1 A388
But in the meantime, after the two return flights for Thomas Cook Airlines Scandinavia, the A380 will fly for Norwegian on the LGW-JFK transatlantic route (flights DI7015/6), starting tomorrow.

Hi Fly's A380 will fly for Air Austral from 14 August until 9 September, while the airline's Boeing 787 undergoes maintenance.
- Hello Hi Fly, this is Austral. Would you have an aircraft on lease for 300 passengers?
- This Hi Fly. It's high season now, we only got an A380 at x $ per hour, plus y $ per nautical mile. Is that OK? You should decide fast, because I have many demands.
- This is Austral. I guess we don't have a choice. Let it come!

Hi Fly's A380 is operating the longest non-stop domestic flight in the world: from St. Denis, Réunion, to Paris on behalf of Air Austral. And today it carried 506 persons on board covering 5,809 miles in 11 hours.
