Have You Ever Met Anyone Famous?

Post by Comet »

Have you ever met anyone famous, and if so, who?

My Grandmother once met the Queen of England, and I've met a few cricketers from when I worked at the Scarborough Cricket Club.

I worked at the UN, so I met indeed some famous people. Arafat, Boutros Ghali, Annan, Chirac, just to name a few.

I meet so many famous people at work (national and international), and the good thing is that as a security agent you can stop and search them  .

But I'm not so much into famous people anyway, there human just like you and me, and you have to respect everybody's privacy.

I have quite alot of people. My favorite one was when I met the Dutch Football Team. They were staying at the conrad hotel, and passed passed the shop I work at in brussels; it was great!
I also met Jarno Trulli and Jenson Button, the F1 drivers of renault 2 years ago, when i got to go in the pits at Francoschamps.
Furthermore, I met Israel Vibration (reggae band), Eddy Merckx, Georges Leekens, and I stayed at the same hotel as Tony Adams, a football player from Arsenal, and met his beautiful daughter :P . I met Sia Furler from Zero 7(she rules  )
But most importantly: I met CEO of snba, mr. Rob Kuypers  (hes a friend of my fathers)
That sums it all up 8)

When we were in London a few years ago, we had a stroll around Covent Garden, and I kept almost bumping into this woman, who looked rather "different" because she had red hair and was entirely clad in red. Didn't think anymore about it until, a short while later, when we got back home, I saw this same lady's photo in "Hello" magazine, and realized that I'd almost "met" Madonna!!!

Was also chatted up by a UK rock star (in the Sixties!), who shall remain nameless, but I'm sure if there are any ancient Rockers on this forum, they may remember him. It was only when I saw this guy on TV a few months ago that I remembered about it.

I also met a famous person from the BBC's "Airport" programme, but I'll leave it to Louise to tell you about that one!!

Okay, for all you fans of the BBC series "Airport". How many of you remember the Aeroflot supervisor Jeremy Spake? He became the "star" of the series, and then left to do other work.

Well, at Christmas 1998, he brought out a book, which I got as a present. We went on holiday to London in May 1999, and naturally we went to Heathrow, and I did some video filming at the top of Queen's Building, before we went inside terminal 2 to head for the Aeroflot desk to see if we could catch a glimpse of Jeremy. I had brought the book with me on the off chance that he would be around. We asked at the Aeroflot check in if he was there, and he wasn't at the desk, but they directed us to the Information desk.

The woman on the Information desk phoned to the Aeroflot office, and spoke to Jeremy. She asked him if he would come to the terminal to sign our book, but in the end it turned out better - he invited us up to the Aeroflot office, in the airport offices block. So off we went. He was sitting at his desk in the office, and he spoke to us about our visit to the airport, and then VC10 asked if she could take his photo on her new Canon APS camera (Jeremy called it a "dinky little camera"!) He let her take the photo as he signed the book, and the photo is shown below.

Three famous persons I've met...
When I was a child, in the planetarium in BRU, I met Armand Pien.
In that time he was a very famous weatherman ( at least in Belgium )
I also met a very famous person during the SNBA opendoors in October 2003, he's name is Bart"Luchtzak"Noëth
And once I spent 20 hours in a very small space with a Miss Vlaams Brabant and a candidate for Miss Belgian Beauty :D
I gave her drivinglessons... 8) And yes, she passed the driving test from the first time!

uuhhmm...not so many I guess
The last one was in London near Buckingham Palace, Tony Blair passed us with an escort.
Patrick Sneyers, a belgian rally driver once sat in the same plane as we did on a flight to Madeira. And when I was little I met Lynn Wesenbeek,Ingeborg, Marlene De Wouters...some famous belgian women from television, my aunt knew them and she took me from time to her work.

Years ago I met the 3 owners from the WTC in New York.
The owners in that time were 3 Italian brothers and were really down to earth, very funny.
They knew my uncle very good since he used to have his office in the WTC.
I think later it was sold to somebody else but I am not sure about that anymore.

I am sorry to say I have met no famous people. I have however, met many local news personalities, but I would not consider them famous.
