Tata SIA Airlines Limited (TSAL) has announced the brand name of its new airline — Vistara.
A collaboration between the Indian conglomerate Tata and Singapore Airlines, the carrier is headquartered in Delhi and is set to start operating in October.
Vistara's first aircraft will be an A320-200. There are plans to increase its fleet to 20 aircraft, including A320neos, within five years.
Vistara will fly domestically in India, with Mumbai, Goa, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Srinagar, Patna and Chandigarh touted as the first destinations. All flights will originate from Delhi.
"Vistara" is derived from the Sanskrit word "vistaar", which translates to "limitless expanse". The logo is inspired by a "yantra", a mathematical form representing the unbounded universe.

Re: Tata SIA Airlines Ltd unveils new airline: "Vistara"
Brand looks like its mean for a resort, uniforms are shabby the blue accents ruining them further, surprisingly this venture has recieved lukewarm reception judging from the discussions on aviation boards, even Indians dont seem as excited as one would have expected, I mean its Tata and SQ no joke, Scoot recieved a more enthusiastic response from aviation geeks when it was unveiled.
Re: Tata SIA Airlines Ltd unveils new airline: "Vistara"
I think it's a bit too early to judge without seeing more details of their actual operations and services. Also Vistara will be in a completely different league, that of the high-end full service airlines, that's the opposite of Scoot. An LCC is inteded to have a bright brand that spots the eye from the very first moment you see it or you hear it, Vistara will be a company that will try to build a solid customer base in another market segment and the brand is just intended to emit a feeling of class, professionalims and warmth. Vistare will be a company building on its service and operations, an airline like Scoot relies for a much bigger part on the fresh, 'cheap' (though that might sound weird), enthousiastic feeling of the brand (and the whole company).
The brand looking like it's for a resort, well I thought about that as well and I honestly cannot think otherwise that's exactly what they wanted. Though I don't like the cabin crew uniforms either, especially for an Indian airline they could have done better than that.
But I actually read quite some positive comments on the brand (name, logo, color use, etc.) except for the staff uniforms.

Hi everyone
The unveiling of Vistara, a new airline from Tata SIA Airlines Ltd, is an exciting development for the Indian aviation industry. It will be interesting to see how it competes with other established airlines in the market.
