I don't know about the freight train, but the trains going to Belarus, Ukraine and Russia the carriages get lifted and put on new bogies (wheels) that are for the broader gauge and vice versa
Re: 2019 Liège Airport (LGG/EBLG) latest news
It's containers on a platform on wheels, so in stead of changing the wheels they might as well just transfer the containers.
I'm curious how they plan the machinists on those trains... I hope they're not away from home for 20 days.

In most countries, train drivers must be certified for the routes they work. Practically this will mean that no train driver will leave her/his own country, or only marginally. Belgian freight trains will be driven by Belgian drivers to the first likely station in Germany (Aachen West) or France, for example, but not beyond. And often there will be a change of engine anyway, at a border crossing, and drivers must of course also be certified for the engine.
As for the gauge differences: yes, containers can be put on another waggon, as simple as that. The big frontier stations have facilities for both techniques, for example the Khorgos one at the Kazachstan/China border: https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=14/44.1693/80.2879

Some flights between Jeddah-Liege-JFK should be operated by Air Atlanta Icelandic B747-400F on behalf of Saudia Cargo. Air Atlanta Icelandic is already operating 7 passengers B747-400 for Saudia.

DOH-MST-LGG-MEX-IAH
MST-LGG, that might be the shortest cargo link ever.

What a sad demonstration of missinformation and political manipulation... made it around the world.
Who wants to explain them that much longer empty flights are happening everyday ?
Lets pick football charters maybe, it will keep those idiots busy for a while

I don't think there's much use in calling people names, either way. "Idiots"? "Ridiculous"? Then again, while keeping things polite, I too have my questions about the additional cost and hassle of two stops so very close by.
Re: 2019 Liège Airport (LGG/EBLG) latest news
Nationalistic, very likely
Without that, no story
