Despite Nordica/LOT, massive increase in flights of Finnair on the HEL-TLL route
http://news.err.ee/615876/finnair-to-ad ... ki-in-2018
17 extra flights a week, up to 10 a day
Keep in mind, the pure HEL-TLL traffic takes the boat, so this is mainly connecting traffic
Estonian Air bankrupt - Replaced by Nordica

Re: Estonian Air bankrupt - Replaced by Nordica
From January, Nordica will cut routes from Tallinn;
Oslo, Amsterdam and St-Petersburg
The number of flights to Stockholm-Arlanda and Munich will be reduced
The carrier cites heavy competition (up to 4 carriers on route to Arlanda), and predicts loss for this year. Last year they did make a profit, but this was thanks to the Estonian presidency of the EU
Nordica will focus on flying on behalf of others (They fly ATRs for Scandinavian and CRJs for LOT Polish)

Re: Estonian Air bankrupt - Replaced by Nordica
And there's more to come, if you ask me. airBaltic has stated several times it aims to become the leading airline in the Baltic region. Their fleet renewal is halfway with more A220-300 (CS300) to come next year and the phase-out of the Q400's as well as their ageing 737's.ezis_bis wrote: ↑09 Nov 2018, 08:36 From January, Nordica will cut routes from Tallinn;

In the end, Nordica will either keep flying a handful of trunk routes, or change its business model entirely to ACMI (like CityJet and Air Nostrum). Time will tell but they can be grateful for mother LOT!

Also Hamburg, Berlin and Rijeka will be cut
Munich will be cut as from next summer
All flights will be proposed via Warsaw
I feel more and more upset about this
Re: Estonian Air bankrupt - Replaced by Nordica
It looks more and more like airBaltic is set to become THE airline for the three Baltic states.

Nordica is mulling buying out the stake held by LOT in their joint carrier, Regional Jet (Estonia), as Nordica does believe LOT will be in it for the long-run due to changing market conditions. However, the buyout would not necessarily be the end of their collaboration.

Re: Estonian Air bankrupt - Replaced by Nordica
Nordica is underperforming, LOT is not happy with it. Nordica has axed quite some routes recently. It remains to be seen whether Nordica will be able to turn the tide on its own. The ACMI-contract with SAS is hopefully beneficial, yet the competition of airBaltic is fierce.sn26567 wrote: ↑06 Dec 2018, 22:52 Nordica is mulling buying out the stake held by LOT in their joint carrier, Regional Jet (Estonia), as Nordica does believe LOT will be in it for the long-run due to changing market conditions. You seems to be right, airBaltic will becoming the biggest in Tallinn;

Re: Estonian Air bankrupt - Replaced by Nordica
Nordica is dead.
LOT decided to close all Nordica routes as from July 1st.
Only Tallinn-Brussels/Stockholm/Warsaw will remain, operated by LOT.
As the same time, Nordica signed a contract where their planes will keep flying for LOT.
This is a very sad, sad day
A big loss for Tallinn

At least, airBaltic and LOT can jump in and fill the voids.

Re: Estonian Air bankrupt - Replaced by Nordica
I guess we'll see more airBaltic indeed, they're not too bad
LOT however pushes you each time through Warsaw, which is not that great. The service is rather bad.
Usual alternative becomes Lufthansa, which via Frankfurt is even less appealing
Hopefully SAS and airBaltic will increase service a bit
But I fear mainly prices will increase
Tallinn-Kiev will now only be Wizzair
I find that somehow odd
Re: Estonian Air bankrupt - Replaced by Nordica
That went fast;
Lufthansa to re-open Munich-Tallinn 3x a week
(LH now performs Frankfurt-Tallinn 3x a day)

Never mind: Nordica and its subsidiary Regional Jet joint bid wins the four-year tender contract for the operation of a Swedish domestic flight route between Stockholm and Arvidsjaur and Gallivare until the autumn of 2023.TLspotting wrote: ↑26 Jun 2019, 12:07 Nordica to stop flying under its own brand : https://www.aviation24.be/airlines/nord ... own-brand/

Re: Estonian Air bankrupt - Replaced by Nordica
I just received an e-mail from LOT informing me the flight number changed.
So far, all Nordica flights already had a LOT flight number (LO8XXX)
Now it's LO2977/LO2978 iso LO8177/LO8178
So, I wonder what's the logic behind it? Or a particular reason?
Timing and aircraft stay the same

LOT took over Nordica routes, as mentionned above a few weeks ago.As from 1st of July, flights of Nordica from TLL are now operated by LOT and no more by Nordica.
Flight numbers are the same.
That would be interesting to see LOT aircraft (except CR7&9) at TLL.

Airlines use numbers to keep an easy eye on what type of flight it is.ezis_bis wrote: ↑11 Jul 2019, 13:48 I just received an e-mail from LOT informing me the flight number changed.

Often the first number will tell them whether it is a charter, longhaul, shorthaul, or subcontracted flight.

LO8xxx numbers were used by Nordica since the beginning of their partnership.flightlover wrote: ↑11 Jul 2019, 14:34Airlines use numbers to keep an easy eye on what type of flight it is.ezis_bis wrote: ↑11 Jul 2019, 13:48 I just received an e-mail from LOT informing me the flight number changed.

Anyway this is their passenger info ;
Changes to flight schedule from 1 August 2019 on Brussels and Stockholm routes
Starting from 1 August 2019, ticket sales and customer service for Nordica flights to and from Brussels and Stockholm will transfer to LOT Polish Airlines, who will continue to serve these routes. This means that from that date LOT will attend to and be responsible for passengers. This includes changing tickets, rebookings and/or reimbursement in the event of cancelled flights.
Tickets already purchased for flights between Tallinn and Brussels or Stockholm will be subject to a change of flight number (from LO8xxx to LO2xxx) starting from the same date. LOT will issue passengers with new tickets bearing the correct flight numbers. The booking code will remain the same.
If you have any questions, call LOT on +372 884 0899.

But the real question is, why do they go through the trouble of changing the flight numbers?
