Air Nostrum pilots plan six-day strike during the Easter holiday ...
Does that include the pilots operating the CRJ900/1000s on wet-lease to Brussels Airlines?

Another trade union goes on rampage: Brussels Airport, Border Control Police, non-Schengen. They let incoming passengers wait for one hour.
Het Nieuwsblad: "Medewerkers van Brussels Airport delen water uit aan de getroffen reizigers". Brussels Airport staff gives water to the victims.

Reagan style: "Fire them all and replace them by the military!"
This being said, police is an activity where strikes should be prohibited, just like with the military.

Nope, no action. Just understaffed. The border police is in dire need of extra staff but seems unable to find them. A problem since many years.Passenger wrote: ↑19 May 2019, 10:05 Another trade union goes on rampage: Brussels Airport, Border Control Police, non-Schengen. Ceci n'est pas une pipe. It was not a strike. It was no social action. All newspaper reports were wrong. It was a disruption of service, only caused by understaffing. Yeah. Just like the many disruptions at ATC: those were also caused by understaffing. Untill a judge said "stop with your strikes".Conti764 wrote: ↑19 May 2019, 11:48Nope, no action. Just understaffed. Let's remain honnest please: they wanted to have the "understaffing" in the news, and they realized that:

Re: Strikes affecting Belgian airports in 2019
All those news outlets based their reports on the communication of Brussels Airport which is incorrect. Understaffing is an issue since many years at the border police and will not be solved anytime soon. they did some patch ups a few years ago but a long term solution is not to be expected for multiple reasons.Passenger wrote: ↑19 May 2019, 12:22Ceci n'est pas une pipe. .Six hours of social consultation on Monday evening 1st July at Brussels Airport’s handling agent Swissport did not bring any positive results. According to the unions, Swissport management did not present any concrete proposals. From Tuesday (2th July) the trade unions will launch “work-to-rule” actions, which can lead to delays, the unions warn. They request a new conciliation.
Airlines that are handled by Swissport: Adria Airways, Aeroflot, Air Algérie, Air Arabia, Air Canada, Air Malta, Alitalia, Atlasjet, Austrian Airlines, Blue Air, Brussels Airlines, Bulgaria Air, Corendon, Croatia Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Egyptair, Emirates, Finnair, Freebird Airlines, Germanwings, Hainan Airlines, Icelandair, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, Qatar Airways, Tailwind Airlines, TAROM, Thai Airways, Ukraine International Airlines, United Airlines, Swiss.

The figures for 2018 (Swissport Belgium nv/sa) haven't been published yet, but the losses over 2016 and 2017 show that there is little room for more staff and/or a salary increase, as the trade unions demand:
result: 2017 : -4.745.162 €
result 2016 : -6.455.069 €

Or maybe BAC shouldn't be so cheap. Many years ago, I worked for a subcontractor and every 5 or so years the contract had to be renewed. Each time BAC asked more for less money.

As allways: when a company makes a profit, it's thanks to the employees. When they make a loss, it's bad management. Let me add some more figures:Conti764 wrote: ↑02 Jul 2019, 17:14So it's bad management.Passenger wrote: ↑02 Jul 2019, 11:17 The figures for 2018 (Swissport Belgium nv/sa) haven't been published yet, but the losses over 2016 and 2017 show that there is little room for more staff and/or a salary increase, as the trade unions demand:

The above figures, and their debt position, doesn't allow Swissport Belgium nv/sa to invest in new equipment, as the unions demand. And maybe the 593 fulltime and 583 parttime employees (31/12/2017) should try to understand that management doesn't ask for more productivity because they want to make more money, but because they are in survival modus?

It's always the same discussion but the employees have to work in normal conditions and nothing more and that's all they ask for and that's how it's going to be.Passenger wrote: ↑02 Jul 2019, 19:49As allways: when a company makes a profit, it's thanks to the employees. Ultraliberalism here reaches its limits...and that while Brussels Airport makes tremendous profits it's outrageous I think it's disgusting.
Hasta la victoria siempre.
