VLM Airlines (Brussels, ex-Thomas Cook) news 2018

Re: VLM Airlines news 2018
I was on that flight. There was a problem with the navigation system and we had to return because the weather didn't permit VFR. The Dutch captain was very professional and kept us updated at all times, the one flight attendant was also keeping us up to date. After landing in Antwerp, they changed the navigation module and refilled and we left again. Good job on them.

Re: VLM Airlines news 2018
VLM and Air Belgium should get together and build a serious network since SN won't expand to some far away places that could use service to Belgium have Air Belgium do the long haul and VLM do the short/medium haul and build all that together... Aim for 10 A330/A340s with flights to America and Asia while VLM can operate a bunch of Fokkers that bring in the connecting passengers from some non major airports around Europe that do not have nonstop service to those airports... No one said you're not allowed to dream a bit

I've never understood why the new VLM wanted to hold on to the old Fokker 50's.

VLM Airlines A320 arrival in BRU
Re: VLM Airlines news 2018
It's weekly flight. VLM Brussels has probably never been profitable....

An airlines that is operating for only a couple of months can never be profitable...
And to be frank, since the separation with VLM regional (Antwerp), VLM Airlines nv (Brussels) is performing quite some flights...

Re: VLM Airlines news 2018
They are amply written off, making them inexpensive on capital though increased maintenance cost may counter that to some degree. Above all, they are well suited to the ANR-LCY route and that must be the mainstay. It is a business route with a firm and long-established customer base. Even load factors are not so very important, given the relatively high yield.
Reliability is much more important to this type of customer - which did made me frown on recent reports of flights cancelled or returning to base when LCY was not available. Diverting to Southend or Biggin Hill should be obvious.
Re: VLM Airlines news 2018
In comparison to the preceding months there was quite some ctivity with VLM Brussels indeed. It seems the last 4-5 weeks VLM's A320's could be seen on quite a number of Airports such as AMS,BRU,Cardiff,Edinburgh,Barcelona,Hamburg,Tours,Lisbon,Marsa Alam,Sharm El Skeikh,Marrakesh,ORY,CDG,Malaga,Nantes,Pristina,Eskisehir,... Hopefully that generated some income to pay the bills....An airlines that is operating for only a couple of months can never be profitable...

those are the flights operated for TUI, they just need to find customers who are in need of a short/long term wetleaseFLYAIR10 wrote: ↑03 Mar 2018, 21:41In comparison to the preceding months there was quite some ctivity with VLM Brussels indeed. Looking at the image above, that seems to be the case.Boeing767copilot wrote: ↑22 Feb 2018, 19:04 And who are the new owners now of VLM Airlines (ex TCAB)? Is it published somewhere? Somebody told me that Mr. Prins would be involved.
Re: VLM Airlines news 2018
Thanks for this. And look who is back at VLM Airlines "Brussels"? Harm Prins, who was ousted of VLM "Regional"! Many people here in this forum had already guessed so...
Maybe we'll need to split this topic into two parts, one for VLM/SHS Aviation and one for VLM/TCAB. At least one of the airlines should change its name to avoid confusion.
