The flight attendants union at bankrupt United Airlines said on Wednesday it offered to take pay cuts and other measures that would save the airline more than $1 billion over the next six years.
The group of 24,000 workers, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants, said the savings would help United compete with discount king Southwest Airlines Inc. and Continental Airlines without sacrificing "premium" service.
