Famous Kenya Airways pilot Irene Koki Mutungi posted a pix where we see two Kenya Airways B787s at Heathrow. One is operated a full cargo flight and it seems that this flight is now tagged with Franckfurt (KQ2148)

TAROM's first flight in Kenya, today

Bucharest Mombasa, with 116 pax aboard a B737-700 (the retro jet)

Since few years now, East African countries (Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda) have been trying to attract Russian, Polish, Ukrainian or Israeli tourists. A few years ago it was Chinese, Indian, Japanese or South Korean tourists. Tourists from the EU or North America are still in the lead, but there is clearly an attempt to diversify

Air Cairo the Egyptair low cost airlines will add flights to Conakry** and Niamey, the next winter.

https://www.aaco.org/media-center/news/ ... via-niamey

If you visit the website of Air Cairo, you can see the Egyptair destinations. Others destinations in Africa not served by Egyptair or Air Cairo in the list are:

Lilongwe (Malawi), Djibouti and Kinshasa (DR Congo). It seems that Egytpair Group is planning a huge expansion in Africa.

In Africa MS serves: Casablanca, Tunis, Algiers, Amsara (Eritrea), Juba (Southh Sudan), Khartoum (Sudan), Abidjan (Ivory Coast), Lagos (Nigeria), Abuja (Nigeria), Accra (Ghana), N’Djamena (Chad), Douala (Cameroon), Nairobi (Kenya), Dar Es Salaam (Tanzania), Entebbe (Uganda), Addis Baba (Ethiopia), Johannesburg and Kigali (Rwanda)

Egytpair eyes Dakar Cairo service https://www.egypttoday.com/Article/6/92 ... ight-route

Egytpair flights to West Africa and Central Africa are operated in the daylight, while flights to East Africa and Southern Africa are operated in the night, it will enable good connections between West and East Africa at Cairo like Kigali-Cairo-Dakar, probably better than a Kigali-Brussels-Dakar with Brussels Airlines ^^ (UE airlines provide sometimes better fares than African Airlines and despite long trip, people book flights)

** Guinea Conkary is still a well-served market: Emirates, Tunis Air, Turkish, Royal Air Maroc, TAP Air Portugal, Air France, Asky, Air Senegal, Ethiopian, Air Cote d'Ivoire, ... Sad that Brussels Airlines has stopped his flights

One constant there: Ethiopia. Why does Emirates not fly to Ethiopia when it has so many other destinations in East Africa?

Nevertheless, the airline BRA sees a continued future for Stockholm Bromma airport, despite the government’s announcement about the closure of the airport.

Ethiopian becomes the first African airline to trial IATA Travel Pass https://www.aviation24.be/airlines/ethi ... avel-pass/
I have probably missed something, or either RwandAir was not ready (it's probably the case because the airline didn't make any annoucement since the first statement in Feb21)

RwandAir to be first African airline to trial IATA Travel Pass

By Travel Reporter Time of article published Feb 25, 2021

RwandAir will become the first African airline to trial IATA Travel Pass. The airline will begin a three-week trial in April for customers travelling between Kigali and Nairobi in Kenya.

We are often focus on failed Africans airlines, but It's still good to see that some airports in Africa are making major upgrade. Improving infrastructure and skilled staff are among the conditions that will enable to the African aviation to develop

Kenya Airways plans to reopen Milan route (closed in the early 1990s). Routing will be Nairobi-Rome-Milan

Lamu and Malindi are popular destinations for Italians

Kenya Airways debuts at Malpensa. Milan-Nairobi flights

MALPENSA - The flight already appears in the airline's sales system. One more confirmation of Kenya Airways' decision to connect Malpensa airport with Nairobi.

Kenya Airways at Malpensa

Flights from Nairobi are scheduled on Wednesdays and Sundays starting next June 30th. The African carrier will serve both Malpensa and Fiumicino. This means that the flight to Milan is a continuation of the connection to Rome. In the opposite direction, those departing from Malpensa will have to deal with a technical stopover in the capital of over an hour to welcome other passengers on board.

This is a connection that has not been seen at Malpensa for at least twenty years. Nairobi was in fact a destination served by Alitalia in the pre-dehubbing era. For the rest, Kenya was connected only by charter flights operated mainly by Neos and Blue Panorama.

Tchadia Airlines

One of the companies member of Ethiopian Airlines group.

The company has suspended flights as its Q400 is in Ethiopia for maintenance. She plans to add a Q400 and a B737-700

Without an aircraft, Tchadia Airlines temporarily suspends its operations

(Ecofin Agency) - In service since 2018, Tchadia Airlines has succeeded in boosting air traffic in the country. But the joint venture between Ethiopian Airlines and the state of Chad is now facing a capacity shortage that is hampering its growth plans.

Air Senegal

According to the CEO, A220s (that will arrive later this year) will replace some aircraft. I guess they will phase out A319s and their sole B737-500
leased from Romanian Blue Air.

TAAG's Facebook page announces the opening of a route to Abidjan. I do not know if flights will be operated with a tag service via Lagos. LAD ABJ was due to open last year via Accra.

https://www.facebook.com/11482778853577 ... 9144262154

I' don't know if the point-to-point traffic between Cote d'Ivoire and Angola is high, but I' think thar TAAG is looking to pick up pax that travel mainly between Cote d'Ivoire and South Africa , Brazil and the 2 Congo.

PIA are to relaunch Baku and Tashkent, and add new destinations Bukhara and Samarkand in the coming months, routes were to start in May but postponed due to covid restrictions. PK had last served Baku in the late 90s and Tashkent in mid 2000s. There are also plans to start Bishkek.

Other CIS routes served in past were Moscow, Ashgabat and Almaty.
