Re: Brussels Airlines' monthly traffic figures
At the press conference of Brussels Airport yesterday, Arnaud Feist announced a Brussels Airlines market share of 35% for short-haul and 40% for long-haul.

Thanks for the interesting split out, André!
it's not clear to me whether these were market shares over the same period (i.e. just month of April), or rather the year so far (or anything else like the rolling 12 months), but what we can notice is that they seem to be slowly but steadily building market share at their home airport as time goes by: from low 30s a couple for years ago to high 30s this summer and likely above 40% once the soon to be integrated charter operations will be fully accounted for.
One can also see this when arriving in BRU during rush hour in the morning, when the whole terminal seems to be taken in by Brussels Airlines planes, with many more being sent further afield. High time for an extension of that building as it's not such a nice experience as a passenger to arrive away from the terminals.
Re: Brussels Airlines' monthly traffic figures
May figures were published today:
https://www.aviation24.be/airlines/lufthan ... ongly-may/
Passenger growth of 18.9%
Load factor growth of 3.4%
Brussels airport has also published its figures,
http://www.brusselsairport.be/pressroom ... ow-in-may/
so one can calculate their overall market share at our capital's airport at 38.0% in May

Re: Brussels Airlines' monthly traffic figures
Compared to last month they made a growth of 0,2% pasangers, so more or less a status quo. Compared with last year the growth is significant due to the attacs last year. A Load factor around 76,5%. I thinkg given the fact that they are increasing the amount of seats they arn't doing bad, are they?
Re: Brussels Airlines' monthly traffic figures
You can't compare a month with the month before but the same period (month) year after year and the year to date (january-may)! The variations can also be explained by some other variables like holidays periods... The increase continue to be strong and the load factor growth is very interesting due to the number of seats available/flight.
Re: Brussels Airlines' monthly traffic figures
SN calculated its progress vs 2016 (the year of the attacks). The figures are thus more impressive than those of BRU, who was more cautious and compared its May figures with record year 2015 instead.
Anyhow, the market share of SN at BRU increases month after month: a very good sign!

Re: Brussels Airlines' monthly traffic figures
Aha, comparing the year to date we see for 2016 a total of 2 682 427 passengers with load-factors between 66,5 and 73% (avg 70,2%). For the same period in 2017 we see 3 422 226 passengers and load factors between 65% and 81% (avg 74%). The averages are just the load average as calculated in excell. But it is an interesting growth, when we compare with the first 5 months of 2015 we still see an interesting growth.
Re: Brussels Airlines' monthly traffic figures
BAC gives both, so it's also easy to compare the year-on-year growth of SN with BRU (as in still +18.9% vs. 11. 8%). So indeed still a continuous trend of an increasing market share and that's a trend unlikely to stop any time soon (natural growth + integration of HQ ops). The current market share of SN looks nice compared to a few years ago, but SN is definitely far from satisfied with itsn26567 wrote: ↑12 Jun 2017, 17:34 SN calculated its progress vs 2016 (the year of the attacks). Re: Brussels Airlines' monthly traffic figures
One more time, impressive figures! You made it again SN!
With the organic growth combined with the Thomas Cook airlines takeover, I guess they will soon hit the 50% market share @ BRU, don't you think?!

Re: Brussels Airlines' monthly traffic figures
There is still a very long way to go to reach that 50% market share though: in May, SN would have needed 522,000 more pax (i.e. 62% more!! ) and reach 1,361,000 pax in order to have 50% of the 2,722,000 that would then have used BRU.brusselsairlinesfan wrote: ↑15 Jun 2017, 22:56 One more time, impressive figures! Re: Brussels Airlines' monthly traffic figures
Oups...The demonstration is right but the numbers are not! May 2017 only 2.203.000 used BRU ( - 520.000 )convair wrote: ↑16 Jun 2017, 00:00There is still a very long way to go to reach that 50% market share though: in May, SN would have needed 522,000 more pax (i.e. 62% more!! ) and reach 1,361,000 pax in order to have 50% of the 2,722,000 that would then have used BRU.brusselsairlinesfan wrote: ↑15 Jun 2017, 22:56 One more time, impressive figures! Re: Brussels Airlines' monthly traffic figures
Ah, Ah, you seem to forget that if SN's pax numbers increase, the BRU totals automatically increase by the same amount!nordikcam wrote: ↑16 Jun 2017, 15:21Oups...The demonstration is right but the numbers are not! Re: Brussels Airlines' monthly traffic figures
This is very good news for the position of SN within the LH Group (meaning more chances for keeping its brand/name/identity)!

At this growing pace, the 10 million passengers/year milestone lies within reach for 2019!

The goal is to reach that figure already in 2018skumfiduse wrote: ↑11 Jul 2017, 18:44 At this growing pace, the 10 million passengers/year milestone lies within reach for 2019!

Of course the takeover of HQ activities will already bridge a significant part of the remaining gap. Add the 'organic market growth' and an increasing market share at BRU and you get to the magic number in 2018.
Re: Brussels Airlines' monthly traffic figures
The l/f for the new Mumbai flight was close to 82% in June. Not bad at all!

Re: Brussels Airlines' monthly traffic figures
True that. The share of Thomas Cook passengers will certainly help to reach the magic number next year. By the way, has that takeover plan already been approved by Belgian authorities?RoMax wrote: ↑11 Jul 2017, 19:32IndeedDeltaWiskey wrote: ↑11 Jul 2017, 19:15The goal is to reach that figure already in 2018skumfiduse wrote: ↑11 Jul 2017, 18:44 At this growing pace, the 10 million passengers/year milestone lies within reach for 2019!
