Re: Tomtesteron (Belgian TV viewers only)

I believe the problem is that the 737 is a multi-pilot aircraft (MPA). It needs 2 licensed pilots to fly/operate it. It is true you can do flight training on a multi-engine aircraft. But most light multi-engine aircraft are single pilot certified. So only 1 licensed pilot has to be on board. A train...

Re: OST 24/06/2010

I'm a student at Ostend Air College and the specific callsign is linked to the 'mission' we fly. Each flight has its specific goals to accomplish and has a certain number. This number is identical to our callsign. The letter at the end is personal per student: each student had its own letter. I don'...

Re: Abnormalities at BRU / ANR / LGG / CRL / OST

Last night, about 3 Ryanair flights diverted to LGG. Luckily, ours from BGY didn't, but the one from Wroclaw which should have landed 5' before us did. We landed at about 23h. Could this crash landing be the cause of this? Especially since the report states the runway was only closed for 30 minutes ...

Re: Flight SN3728 16/4/2009

You most probably encountered a cumulonimbus cloud (short CB). There were quite a few in Belgium yesterday. CB's cause thunderstorms, turbulence, gusty, unpredictable winds,... CB's don't necessarily produce a thunderstorm, but always the gusts and the turbulence. The most probable reason why you go...

Re: belgian air force airbus 310

Last year, they used the A310 on the 'fly to your dream' event. This is some sort of job-day for jobs at the airforce. Everybody who attended got a flight in the Airbus. This year however, they changed the A310 for an Embraer. Maybe more luck next year. I don't know of any other event where they use...

Re: Turkish Airlines B737 crashes in Schiphol Amsterdam

Just heard on the news the accident was partially caused by a broken radio-altimeter. The left-hand altimeter was broken and indicating a height of -8ft while the plane was at 1950ft. So the autothrottle of the 737 thought the plane was about to land and reduced throttle. The plane went below its no...

[pics] About Ryanair, a super-guppy and lots of wind

Goodday to you all, I'm a student pilot at OAC and already pretty early during our training we decided to do a trip to the Airbus factory in Toulouse. What surprised us the most is that 23 out of the 25 classmembers joined in on our weekendtrip to France. Two persons in the class took care of everyt...

OST 18/12 N707JT

Yes, you read it correctly. Today at OST we had a most unexpected visitor: a very nice Boeing 707 owned by mr. John Travolta himself . Unfortunately mr. Travolta wasn't on board of his own private jet. The reason for this visit to OST was a diversion from Le Bourget. The 707 was due to pick up mr. T...
