The FedEx employees of Liege Airport are staging a 48-hour strike in view of yesterday's announcement by the carrier of the dismissal of close to 700 people. No FedEx planes are being handled at Liege Airport.

It hasn't been mentioned so far but another 24 hours strike happened between March 2nd and 3rd at FedEx in LGG :
"No Fedex-TNT plane has taken off again from Liège airport since 10 p.m. on Tuesday and at least until Wednesday same time. The staff thus want to express their disagreement with the elimination of 671 jobs in their Liège hub."

The unions have announced a general strike in the private sector in Belgium on Monday, 29 March. This might affect public transport to/from Brussels Airport (and the other Belgian airports as well), but the unions also announced filter blocks at Brucargo on Monday, which could affect the distribution of vaccines.

Yesterday, customs officers at Brussels Airport have staged a work-to-rule action to complain about ... the lack of staff, in a period when only 5% of the flights are operated! Some passengers had to wait up to two hours after the arrival of their flights before they could leave the airport.

CSC-Transcom goes on the offensive and announces actions for the end of the week at Charleroi airport. She denounces a lack of communication on the part of the management, the questioning of collective agreements, excessive flexibility, the abolition of Saturdays and Sundays, a reduction in working hours, etc.

hi there,
I understand there's talk about Brussels airlines cabin crew striking in the coming days. How reliable is that information? I've got a flight booked next Saturday 28 August, and it would be pretty anonying if it got delayed or worse... cancelled
Thanks for any information you can provide
Dom

Do you have a source for the confirmation?

Re: Strikes affecting Belgian airports in 2021
Most of the time I understand and even support strikes, but in the middle of a pandemic with the possibility of a new, very infectious variant, developing, I don’t think anything can justify a strike.
Any action that brings more people together than absolutely necessary will lead to more infections, illness, hospitalisation and eventually death.
As justified as the demands may be, striking now is absolutely not done and even limit criminal!
Rant over!

Very surprised to see not one mention of the strike going on today...
Or did I miss something in another thread?

Re: Strikes affecting Belgian airports in 2021
Indeed, whilst a flight between Stuttgart and Kiruna, wherever that may be, once a week for three months is homepage news and every single diversion around the world is brought with some unnecessary drama and unfounded suppositions, a strike at Belgian biggest airline is ignored to avoid bad publicity...
It’s not the first time I have questions about the neutrality of this forum and website.
Quo vadis Luchtzak.be?
I am out of here, goodbye!
Re: Strikes affecting Belgian airports in 2021
The strike was duly announced on this website, with 50% of the flights cancelled (57 out of 116), affecting 3,500 passengers out of the 12,500 who had booked flights or were expected to fly.
https://www.aviation24.be/airlines/luft ... cancelled/
It happened exactly as foreseen. 9,000 passengers could fly on the flights they had booked, and for the 3,500 others, SN has rebooked them on other flights operated either by other Lufthansa Group companies or even by other airlines, or reimbursed them.
