13 december is tomorrow. Any news about the shareholders who can say "yes" or "no" ? SN has a "Conseil d'Entreprise" tomorrow too ? No ?sn26567 wrote:The discussions between the four Belgian negotiators and the representatives of Lufthansa seem to have come to an end. The purchase compromise has been presented to the Belgian shareholders, which have until 13 December to approve it. None of them has refused until now.
Then, on 15 December, the Board of SN Airholding will meet to also approve the negotiated final conditions in order to conclude the purchase of the remaining 55% of Brussels Airlines by Lufthansa. End of the game!

The deal is complete.
Belgium doesn't have a national airline anymore.

Air Belgium will be the new national airline (hopefully)...Shengenzone wrote:The deal is complete.

Depends what Lufthansa will do with the nv/sa Brussels Airlines - not to be confused with nv/sa SN Airholding.Shengenzone wrote:The deal is complete.

Depends what you mean with "national airline". Is that a "OO-registered airline"? Then maybe Brussels Airlines will remain a national airline. But, like most other OO-airlines, an airline with foreign ownership.
Re: Lufthansa buys the remaining 55% of Brussels Airlines
Fingers crossed for Air Belgium!
Re: Lufthansa buys the remaining 55% of Brussels Airlines
In this respect also Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland,... don't have a 'national airline' anymore. They're all part of a larger (foreign) group. But this doesn't have to change the fact that these airlines can be the flag carrier of their country. All this ofcourse, if the 'group' decides to keep the 'national' name.Shengenzone wrote: Belgium doesn't have a national airline anymore.

As long as SN keeps its name, it will be the national airline of Belgium. From the moment LH would make the (ludicrous) decision to scrap the name and change it into something soulles and generic like 'Eurowings', we will lose our national airline.

And what about the employees? Meaning all these pilots having CDD ? Any automatic CDI given with this take over?
Re: Lufthansa buys the remaining 55% of Brussels Airlines
I also read there would be an agreement about the growth strategy and the renewal and expansion of the fleet. I wonder if they'll have some news about that tomorrow aswel? And with 'news' I mean some real decisions about aircraft numbers, types,... instead of some vague plan to "renew the fleet in the future"...
Re: Lufthansa buys the remaining 55% of Brussels Airlines
Sure they will announce orders for the long haul fleet because it's urgent....I think so.
Hasta la victoria siempre.

The real decisions are postponed for 2 yrs. Probably BAirlines will then be renamed Bwings, hope they'll remain a full star alliance member.

Re: Lufthansa buys the remaining 55% of Brussels Airlines
Indeed. Withdrawing SN from Star Alliance would be a complete nonsense.
Cheers

do you mean there will be no announcement about a order for the long haul fleet?sn-remember wrote:The real decisions are postponed for 2 yrs. Probably BAirlines will then be renamed Bwings, hope they'll remain a full star alliance member.

In that case the only Belgian airline is TNT AIrways (ASL Airlines Belgium). While the HQ of ASL might be Irish the ownership of ASL is Belgian. All other airlines (SN, TUI, TC and the upcoming VLM and Air Belgium) are all foreign owned. So we have a cargo airline as our flag carrier (but with an awesome fleet with the queen of the skies, the 747 and it's little sister the 777)Passenger wrote: Depends what you mean with "national airline". Re: Lufthansa buys the remaining 55% of Brussels Airlines
What he means is that SN will remain SN and continues on the same path during the next 2 years. After those 2 years a change is possible, most likely depending on the results. If SN remains doing good and EW continues to underperform then SN is probably here tot stay indefinitely, if SN underperforms and due a miracle EW is becoming a success then it will be bye bye SN and hello EW (Belgium).lumumba wrote:do you mean there will be no announcement about a order for the long haul fleet?sn-remember wrote:The real decisions are postponed for 2 yrs. So we can only "hope" that EW continues to be a mess and Spohr gets to walk out the door and that SN continues on it's positive path it's currently on.
I'm not sure if there will be an announcement for any order. They might say they will renew the fleet without details given but I doubt SN or even LH has negotiated slots to be allocated to SN with any of the manufacturers.
Re: Lufthansa buys the remaining 55% of Brussels Airlines
Is SN really going to buy new A330's? I thought they were supposed to be leased as well.
Re: Lufthansa buys the remaining 55% of Brussels Airlines
Let's stop speculating and see what the official news will bring.
