Thanks for the update and future monitoring.

It seems that ASL has changed a lot since its Belgian majority shareholder CMB sold its shares.

They changed a lot, like in... renewing its fleet?

Like in ... re-registering all aircraft from OO- to OE- (except the old 737-400 OO-TNN and OO-TNP, the bare minimum to keep "Belgium" in their name).

That is nothing new and has absolutely no relation at all with shareholders or whatsoever.

I have wondered what will happen when the last 2 Belgium registered aircraft depart, currently that is not for at least one year, that's what I have been advised.

As long as the expeditors DHL/FEDEX and Amazon keep giving them long term business, then they will keep their heads above water.
The Long Haul services seems to be operating ok so they have the customer base at this time.

That has absolutely nothing to do with being a Belgian company. BTW they were never "re-" registered. AFAIK they were planned OO-, ended up OE- for specific reasons...

It's a fully Belgian company, with a fully Belgian AOC working for many multinationals in a tough competitive world. Fleetsize-wise they have been catching up SN Brussels Airlines, so I do think they deserve a little bit more "Belgian pride" from the outside world...

I think ASL Belgium are not the most to complain in the group.

ASL France has really changed before (Aeropostale, Europe Airpost then ASL France) and after the covid. They now operate only pax flights from France to Algeria and Morroco. They ended flights to Serbia (closed in Jan20), Tunisia, Israël, Cabo Verde, after covid.

Before they had 7 B737-700s, now only 1. The 2 B737-800s retired during the covid were replaced in 2023 by 2 B737-800s that were already in ASL Group since 2022.

Almost all French Post flights (flights for La Poste) are now longer operated by ASL. Their only route is from Corsica to Paris via Marseille. Lyon route closed during the covid, Toulouse, Bordeaux, Brest and Montpellier few years before the covid. ASL France used to base a B737-300F on these airports and a Beech1900F at Brest. Flights are now operated either by Fedex, Star Air, Swiftair or West Atlantic.

When they have retired the F 27 operated by Milliner, French post flights to Limoges and Clermont Ferrand have closed.

All their B737F fly now for Fedex and are most of time parked outside Paris (Vienna, Milan, Budapest,...) and when they are in Paris they used FedEx apron which is at the cargo north aera at Paris Cdg, while the ASL France HQ is located in the cargo south area at CDG. The place where all French postal flights are operated. They used often ASL...Belgium flight number (TAYXXX)

Some Amazons daily flights from and to Paris are also operated by Amazon Prime Air (ASL Airlines Ireland) and in 2021 by CargoLogic Germany.

ASL Belgium : 33 aircraft
ASL France : 16 aircraft (08 for cargo)

ASL France is growing (cargo division), but everything goes to Paris and nothing for the French Province, while there are some airports with good cargo market : Lyon, Marseille, Rennes, Toulouse. UPS, DHL, Star Air are taking the business

Nothing will happen! Why do you think something would change?

This is what I mean with Belgian pride.

ALSB is working for Fedex and created a fairly big fleet in a highly competitive market, with competition from companies like West-Atlantic/Swiftair, Bluebird, and many other smaller companies. Little reminder that the first converted 737NGs flying for Fedex were operated by West Atlantic...

From what I can tell, the Fedex ops are not the easiest ops to "survive" in, but ASLB is doing it anyway. This isn't a matter of "they are not the most to complain" as maybe this company is the one trying hard to make it work. The least Belgium can do is be a little proud of what they are achieving and keep fingers crossed they can continue to make it work, as opposed to complaining the are not really Belgian anymore.

(ps: if the callsign is ASLB, the ASLF group works "subcontracted" for ASLB)
