Good morning all,

I just found a very nice picture of an A-380, maybe a few of you already saw this one, but nevertheless here it is:

I can't wait to see one of those! How much bigger is it than the 747-400?

Thanks Andries. The wingspan in particular sounds very impressive! I hope I get to fly on one someday.

It's indeed a very special picture, but due to the proportions of the plane it doesn't realy look very big or long. It rather looks small and fat. ;)

Anyway, it's nice to see the production is going on slowely but surely, and in a few months the first A380 will be in the air :jumpy:

Sorry to disturb all your lovely comments but I still keep on saying it is a very short, fat but most of all ugly plane. I hope it will be transfered to cargo carriers asap instead of using this 'thing' for passengers!

A plane isn't manufactured to be nice. As long as it is economically interesting to operate the A380 for pax flights, airlines will do so.

BTW the notion of beautifull or ugly is all very subjective !!

I have to agree with A318 here, I also at least "dislike" the looks of the A380. Probably I'll need to see it myself in real life first, and then get used to it until I start to like it. I had the same with the new BMW 5-series, a car which I am now fond of. I have to admit that it looks impressive though.
But as my username suggests, the B747 will always be my all-time favorite.

Avro, you are totaly right when you say that an aircraft should be manufactured for economics, not for looks.

I agree 100%, Chris. Remember when the 747 came out? (Yes, I know, most of you weren't born yet...!)

When Boeing launched the 747, most people found it ugly and wondered how an iron like that could fly!

And eventually everybody got used to the looks of the 747 :!:
So even if I really abhor the looks of the A380 now, I'm sure I won't be saying that in 10 years time anymore. (Or perhaps when I'll see one in a decent airline livery )
