Runway closed at Brussels for WWII bomb

Post by sn26567 »

This morning, runway 25L was closed for a spectacular event. A 200kg WWII bomb that was found in the town of Evere yesterday, was dismantled by army specialists. As it was located right behind the airport, the runway was closed during this operation.

On closer inspection it turned out to be a Trent 900.

The bomb did explode and the sound of the explosion was overheard by Eurocontrol people (whose offices are down the road from the airport) who reported it on their website!
