Hi!
Could the integration of TC justify a subfleet of A321?
Could the integration of TC justify a subfleet of A321?
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
I asked the question last week to Bernard Gustin, he said that they were studying the case ouf the A321 on regular basis but at the moment they still don't see the point to introduce the A321 in the fleet for the european network. However they want to increase the number of A320 versus the A319.

Slowly but steady... Great!crew1990 wrote: ↑24 Sep 2017, 16:19 I asked the question last week to Bernard Gustin, he said that they were studying the case ouf the A321 on regular basis but at the moment they still don't see the point to introduce the A321 in the fleet for the european network. I still remember the Sabena adventure... And now the Air Berlin bubble...
Introducing a new type is always difficult for scheduling and back-ups. I would think twice as well...
On top of that... frequency is also important! And there aren't a lot of (if any) destinations were SN has 7 rotations a day...
Cheers,

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Every airline can fill up A321 aircraft, in Summer. But in Winter your big aircraft is simply too big.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
euh... WIZZAIR changes to an all A321 company, and Easyjet is also thinking of it...
They fly yearly round so guess you can't say it's too big
It's too big for SN ( at the moment )
But if the A321NEO reaches nearby AFI, it can swop some A33X traffic and open up some grow...
without adding much more longhaul fleet...
But we had already one member once dreaming of this..
But as Dakar and Banjul are already operated by B738 why not

New types flown 2022.. A339
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Previously, we were talking about an A319 to replace the Q400! Someone knows where he comes from and his registration? Thank you
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
I may be wrong, but I think that the new aircraft will be A320s. SN want to increase the A320/A319 ratio.
Hence, maybe the Q400 will be replaced by an (existing) A319, but this A319 itself will be replaced by an A320 (from TCAB for example).

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Several years ago, SN occasionally operated Dakar with an A319 when no A330 was available (due to AOG or maintenance).cathay belgium wrote: ↑25 Sep 2017, 17:05euh... WIZZAIR changes to an all A321 company, and Easyjet is also thinking of it...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Hi all,
Interesting readings on airliners.net. They provide the dates the 7 'new' A330 will arrive at SN. here is the list:
A330-342 MSN679 B-LAC CX Oct/2019
A330-342 MSN895 B-LAG CX Mar/2018
A330-342 MSN915 B-LAH CX Jan/2018
A330-342 MSN959 B-LAI CX Apr/2018
A330-343 MSN978 9V-STA SQ Sept/2018
A330-343 MSN983 9V-STB SQ Oct/2018
A330-343 MSN1132 9V-STO SQ Jun/2019
The comment is also interesting: "I have added the timeframe in which the aircraft should arrive at SN (Cabin outfitting to the SN lay-out will take place after this date)... As you can see, 3 A330 will already arrive in the first 4 months of 2018. As far as I understand, one will be used for operations (mainly to serve additional frequencies to Africa), the 2 other a/c will be stored until the new cabin can be installed (in Q4 2018)."
See http://www.airliners.net/forum/viewtopi ... #p19846229
Good to hear that they will have one additional A330 to start operations (I guess the first one can be ready in two months or so, so for the start of the summer season), so new destinations and/or (it seems) more frequencies (to Africa) ... Can anyone confirm this rumour?
However, I guess it depends also on when the 'old' A330 will gradually leave the fleet. Anyone has info on that?
On the other hand: why storing 2 aircraft for more than half a year?
Danny

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Or they increase back-up capacity because they want less leased-in replacements? Not quite the same standard as the rest of the fleet, but still a good solution when a plane is grounded for whatever reason.DannyVDB wrote: ↑01 Oct 2017, 08:57 Hi all,

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
It is way cheaper to store two aircraft than to bring them up to operational status and condition, while not needing them. It would mean maintenance, insurance, hefty BRU parking costs for two aircraft every day... The other one is already operational spare... So why have three? And one you can store in BRU at own premesis, H41 or its platform, It would not fit 3 A333. And keep in mind, these aircraft are for replacement, not for expansion. Any plans for expansion would mean it involves another aircraft than these 7.DannyVDB wrote: ↑01 Oct 2017, 08:57 Hi all,
