No An124 in Belgian airspace around that time. East bound, even no four engined one was found, the only match of a wide body was DC10 N136WA.

An-124 has no ADS-B, therefore it doesnt show its position on the SBS-1 radar. Skystef might not have been able to find the information, depending on where he looked it up. It is quite likely that you saw one, they sometimes fly USA to Leige http://flightaware.com/live/flight/VDA4702
Perhaps you could provide the altitude? For example whether it was contrailing or not?

( I have had 7 different ones plus an AN225) Perhaps he only has access to an online SBS output where he cannot read the info panel. Many aircraft don't track on the screen - Embraers, Canadairs and most bizjets or light aircraft but they all register in the info list.
I checked my records for yesterday and concur with Skystef that there wa nothing Antonov within 120 nm of Brussels at the time you mentioned. A Kazakstan reg'd IL-76 climbed out of Geilenkirchen around 9-30 but I guess that wasn't trailing

Sorry for the confusion. This is what I was trying to get at... I said they dont show their positions. I'm just assuming stef might not be correct because of them not showing up on the screen, for example if he used the atcbox.com SBS-1 screenshots which show traffic over Belgium but do not show the aircraft list.

a few more pictures from saturday/was haze------only got the 3 pictures due to high cloud moving in---the air france/air canada going northwest and the atlasair east.-----weather forcast for today is rain/+9c.
i have a high rate of photos which are blurry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!HOW CAN I INPROVE THIS----I USE 1/500 SHUTTER SPEED-----most of the pictures on this site are 100% perfect.------PLEASE HELP.

Well i use this tricks for my spotting session. Well at first i control collimation of the scope almost everytime with the cheshire eyepiece and if the scope isn't collimated i collimate it. Then i use to put the scope outside about 2 hours before the spotting session because it takes long to the mirror to get the right temperature. About dslr settings i use iso 400 and a shutter time between 1/400 and 1/1000 (i use a 2X 2" barlow). If you take direct focus photos (that's mean without barlow) you should set up your camera to iso 200 and a shuttertime about 1/800 that's better than iso100 because you have more photos on focus because the shutter time is shorter but there not a lot of noise. This are my advices for you.

Well, like Emirates I have acces to off-line data covering entire Belgium + some parts beyond, and this 24hrs/day. That day: one An124 'RA-82046' of Volga around 0915LT showed up, this besides Il76s 4K-AZ41 around 0940 & 1420LT + RA-76352 around 1700LT. So, my conclusion remains no An124 at the requested time in Belgian airspace.
Here a couple of shots on UL608 of Jan. 9 with T of -10°C. Even with these low temperatures, most of time distortions were present in the (upper) atmosphere. I expected also more brightness due to the albedo effect of the snowcover over Belgium. Conclusion: the low angle of the Sun remains the major factor, so I'm waiting for snow in the Summer...

Indeed if there were no clouds the Belgians could intercept VH-OQC on UL607 as well, but today a no go show. Luckey chances enough with its three times a week upgraded run (QF31/2) which started today.
Lack of contrails are quite common after the passage of a cold front, because usually slightly warmer air present at cruising levels.
A pic of Jan 15 on UL608: hardly atmospheric distortions but a thin layer of Cirrus trailed long enough to spoil things...

i have a 8inch 1200mm sky watcher scope and have always used the barlow-----today i took the barlow off the scope AND NOW THE SCOPE WILL NOT FOCUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!IS THEIR A QUICK FIX FOR THIS PROPLEM.
i am sure i saw some post about this on this site???put can not find it.

Your problem is probably due to the camera not being close enough to the primary mirror.
You will need to either move the primary mirror up by loosening the collimating screws, or by shortening the focuser somehow in order to get the camera closer.

many thanks for your reply,stef has sent me some pictures of his set up on his old 8" scope and i have the camera within 8mm(t-ring) of the brass ring on the tube of the focuer.this is the same set up on stefs web site(setup) for the 10" scope.
have not try it out yet--waiting for the sun.
