La Thaïlande veut échanger ses crevettes contre des Airbus

Post by SN30952 »

I also read this in La Libre.

Call it 'chantage' (blackmail) :!:

But I guess an Airbus flies farther than a shrimp :)

No mistake, Chris, the benefit margin of shrimps is higher than on Airbus.
But on the other hand Airbus does not smell bad when left in the sun!!!
It is a billion Euro business, but Thai fiddled with chemicals in farming shrimps. See more about that here: Chloramphenicol in Shrimps And also. Nitrofurans in shrimps and poultry meat
Look who produces shrimps in Thailand Shrimps and fish in THAILAND *
Look at the two last in the table.
Now I ask you is there a coincidence?
Both these companies are invloved in farming these animals.
The first one is closely involved with the buy of the 2 KLM 747, and is that not cargo too?
The second one is partner in the new AirAia venture as LCC.
See what shrimps can buy!

But some other countries did not fiddle, as there are Vietnam. Vietnam exports the lot to N. America. And that's one of the reasons they're getting Boeing. Because shrimp means credit.
Now Thailand is looking to see something similar.
And now Chloramphenicol (antibiotic) use has been banned in food-producing animals both in the European Union (EU) and in Thailand.

*As in cycling, everything seems permitted in shrimp farming: making momey is the important thing.
** And did you think Chris, I'd bring this item up, if it had nothing to do with aviation. (shrimps in the sky  )
What they want is cheap finance on airplanes to make more money. THIS IS NO DEVELOPMENT AID!

Chok die.
Bon Appetit!
(Here it is said that shrimps 'flambe' or khung as they are called, is even worse for your health, so grill them lightely or steam them...anyway its the sauce that does it.) And do not kill all taste in butter and garlic..
Some suggestions?
Pad Thai with Shrimp
Shrimp in Cilantro Pesto Coconut Sauce
Yellow Tiger Prawns

BTW Do you know that one of the leading companies, providing specialised food foor these animals, is a flemish company based in BKK?

I guess Thai will buy more Boeings
Not yet, read an other post for that...

Quite spicy? It is always very spicy in Thailand.
And spicy in Thai is ped, ped -- maak maak

Watana: No shrimp subsidies provided; Ambassador asked to relay message. Thursday 25 December 2003.
The Commerce Ministry yesterday asked the US ambassador to explain to his country's trade agency that the Thai government had offered no subsidies on shrimp farming and exports.
The low export prices have stemmed mainly from better technology in shrimp farming, Commerce Minister Watana Muangsook told Ambassador Darryl Johnson.
Mr Watana met with the US representative ahead of an reported plan by the US shrimp industry to lodge a complaint with the US Department of Commerce on Monday. The US shrimpers want the agency to begin an anti-dumping investigation against shrimp exports from Thailand.
Mr Watana said he wanted American shrimp producers and US officials, including senators, to visit Thai shrimp farms to obtain accurate information.
American shrimp producers from eight southern states - Louisiana, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi and Texas - have complained about the impact of low-priced shrimp from 17 countries, including Thailand.
``The low prices are also being seen in the local market, prompting the ministry to launch a pledging programme to stabilise them,'' Mr Watana explained.
The ministry has planned to use a budget of about one billion baht to pledge 10,000 tonnes of head-on shrimp from farmers at 120 baht a kilogramme starting tomorrow. Fifty cold-storage sites are expected to join the programme to keep the pledged shrimp for the ministry.*
Mr Watana said he wanted Thailand and the US to resolve the issue in a more compromising way than when the European Union banned Thai shrimp exports in February 2002, after which the Thai government floated a plan to trade the shrimp for Airbus aircraft.
Meanwhile, shrimp producers and farmers from 10 associations yesterday submitted a letter to Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra to support the government's plan to introduce retaliatory measures against the EU.
The EU has cut tax preferences gradually under its generalised system of preferences, causing Thailand's shrimp exports to the EU to plunge by 37.7% from January to August to 2,576 tonnes compared with 4,135 tonnes in the same period last year.
In a related development, Pinyo Kiatpinyo, president of the White Shrimp Producers Club, forecast that output of white shrimp next year would decline by 30% from 160,000 tonnes this year.
``The declining prices this year have discouraged farmers from raising white shrimp,'' he said.

* I told you this was big money. Do not call all shrimps, shrimp
