One week ago we fly with an MD83 of SkyWings airlines.(BRUSSELS- HERAKLION)
When we were cruissing at the normal Flight Level there was a lot of ice in the cabin. +- 10cm/1cm (i was sitting at the emergency exit) was this a normal situation?
This is a normal situation, water from condensation is acumulating between the frame of doors; when reaching high altitude, this water is becoming ice.
That's a reason why it's always cold at the emergency exits seats and in galleys.
Yes that's right. On my last flight from Bangkok to Frankfurt I stood for 8 hours to the last emergency exit, and the corners of the door were very cold. (Yes I stood there because I hate sitting on longhaul flights. )
to Sabena320: standing 8 hours just because you hate sitting in economy?
Advice: look for an alternative such as EVA air where they have a kind of economy plus with bigger seats.
And you didn't have the usual turbulence over India or the Bengali Gulf?
No I stood there because I hate sitting for 11 hours the whole time, I already have to sit a whole day in school. And because we had problems with the taxi, we were quite late at the airport so I didn't had a window seat anymore, although I wanted to take photos from the scenery. Like this one I took above Turkmenistan:
And believe it or not, it was fun standing there the whole time and talking to other people from different countries who passed by or were waiting for a free toilet.
No we had perfect weather on the return flight. When flying to BKK we had thunderstorms above India.
