Shortest low-cost route?

Post by nic_biso »

Do you know very short routes operated by LCC?... since these routes are quite unusual for the low-cost business model.
Examples:
Menorca - Palma, Air Berlin, 132 km, 39 min.
Ibiza - Palma, Air Berlin, 139 km, 39 min.
Belfast - Glasgow, EasyJet, 167 km, 41 min.
Belfast - Liverpool, EasyJet, 244 km, 46 min.
Dublin - Cork, Ryanair, 247 km, 46 min.
etc…

Can you give me any other examples? I’m looking for the shortest route possible… you take-off, reach the designated flight level for a couple of minutes or so... and then prepare to land… so basically just a short hop between 2 cities.
Thanks.

Maybe not really lowcost, but very short indeed :

"PPW-WRY in the Orkneys on Loganair.... 1.5 miles and 2 minutes of flying time.
Loganair operate the scheduled two minute flight between Westray and Papa Westray. This short flight has held the record as the World's Shortest Scheduled Air Service for almost thirty years. Travellers on this flight may qualify for a unique Certificate commemorating their world record flight.

The shortest LCC flight, I think, was going to be CRL-LGG, until the government prohibited that. (90 km on a 737)
