It is becoming ever apparent that the B777-300ER is an excellent aircraft

It seems the operators like it anyway. I have been on both Air France and Emirates 77W's in the last two months and have to say from a passenger perspective I wasn't overly impressed. Just a stretched 772 really - which is probably my least favourite widebody.

Not the quietest cabin in the sky thats for sure - especially when compared to the A343. Gimme a 747, 343 or 330 anytime. Not sampled the 345 or 346 and that is the main competitor for the 77W so I reserve judgement on comparing with its direct competors.

I do not fly United Airlines 777's any more. I flew from London to IAD in 1997 and from Honolulu to IAD in 2000 and never had more miserable trips (flew coach). An entertainment box (aluminum) occupied almost half of the space under all seats so my foot room was severely limited.

This situation may have been rectified, but I'll never know.

While I've been a big fan of the Boeing 747 in all its various forms, the two most comfortable flights I have ever experienced were on Boeing 777-200s, long haul across the Pacific.

I must admit the most comfortable flight I ever had was also on a United 777. That was before 911 though---American carriers are horrible.
