Ground collision in Brussels (SIA 744F + RAM 735)

Post by Cartman »

Singapore Airlines Cargo collided with Air Maroc flight during taxi. Air Maroc damaged on rudder, repair will probably take more than a week.

SQ7895R ORD-BRU-SIN 9VSFO 747-300(?)
AT844 BRU-CMN CNRMV 737-500

40 Air Maroc passengers have been taken to hotel and will leave tomorrow on AT839 to CMN at 14h40.

Pictures will probably follow (if I can get there before end of my shift).

Horizontal stabiliser scrap and as you can see the stabiliser to fuselage section is also buckled so Sabena Tech will have a nice job for the a month.

And what about the Singapore B744F. Heavily damaged or just some minor problems?

Pietn: first message posted before I saw the plane with my own eyes. Too lazy to edit or update afterwards 8)

The singapore bird aparently has only minor damage to the tip of the left wing. I wanted to take pics of it, but the captain was inspecting it at that moment, so not a good moment to say 'hey, this guy must have been blind or something, let's take a pic of the damage...' :D

I haven't heard what was the cause of the accident.

Could the SQ 747 depart soon after the accident or is the aircraft still tech at BRU?

Thanks for the picture golf1411.

I was flying out on a BA flight to LHR at the time of the incident. The RAM flight was parked next to the BA plane and pushed back before we did. We we there stuck for 45 min and once we were given go ahead to take off we taxied past the RAM flight and the Singapore airlines which were both surrounded by loads of Fire Engine trucks.

I remember seeing the RAM passengers waiting at their gate (B06 If I remember correctly) they all looked tired even before their flight took off as they would arrive around 1:00am in Casablanca. The anger and frustration on board must have been palpable after the incident happened and everyone had to spend the night in a hotel.

Passengers were actually quite calm and understood the situation. They saw the damage on the aircraft and all realized that it was impossible to take-off. Most of them were satisfied with the Sheraton-solution since it was the best thing that we could do at the moment. Luggage was returned immediately and a hot meal in the Sheraton was provided, just like breakfast the next morning.

Among the 37 passengers were mostly western businessmen, a few Moroccan couples with some children, four backpack tourists with a connection to Dakar and one deportation (I personally returned him to federal police :?)

That's no minor damage Cartman, OK they maybe don't have to replaced the wing but that repair will be expensive, believe me...
