SOBELAIR needs 10 a 15 mil €

Post by airbuske »

Guys ,

I have the article only in dutch. Sorry
No so good news for Sobelair:
Vastapane wants to sell a part of sobelair and wants
to keep 25 % of Sobelair.
They need 10 a 15 mil € to survive the winter season.

Please don't think that they are stupid at SN, that they voted for fun whether they would take -200 or -300.
    luchtzak
Sad news for SN Brussels Airlines again I hope they can find a replacement aircraft soon or that they repair the broken engine soon... Otherwise our good African profits could drop, my concern...

That's what they thaught of Sabena before, and you saw the result.

The Sobelair or SNBA stories do not differ that much.
I didn't understand Vastapan's choice at the beginning, and now he wants out.
Only VG Airlines had another more positive story, so they killed it.
Always the same people behind the scenes, it's really a pitty.

I am really ashamed about these belgian stories.

Airbuske,

The news item (except for the need of cash) was posted yesterday at Luchtzak: https://www.aviation24.be/article1657.html

... and also (with the cash story) in the Francophone forum: https://www.aviation24.be/ftopic1460.html
where it drew already some comments.

  • I just had replies from some Australians who do not
    understand these belgian problems.

I told them shotly, and remembered them about the past of
TAA(Trans Australian Airlines Boeing number 76)(also state owned)
and Ansett (private and boeing number 77).
The first merged with Qantas, that's why you see some B737-376's
in the fleet ,where Qantas boeing number is 38).

This where Belgium(and before Sabena) should be proud that
Sabena was among the first airlines to receive a Boeing
    reference number.
    This after PanAm(21), United(22), AA(23), Continental(24),Eastern(25),
USAF(Mats)(26), Braniff(27)and Air France (28) and the famous Sabena 29.
Even Lufthansa(30) ,BOAC(36) and TWA(31) came after Sabena.
Now there are so many airlines, that boeing is crying to find new numbers.

An Australian Story will follow in a new Topic.
They too made mistakes, but less rediculous.

I truly don't want to see the end of Sobelair. It is a shame when the old airlines go under.

And they are the only airline which still displays that superb Sabena livery (the best one they ever had).

I hope they can survive.

I have just posted a new article in the francophone section.
Sobelair will not go down.
They are talking with three other companies (not necessarily airlines).
The rumours now are about serious discussions with Victor Hasson and Georges Gutelman,
the owners of Birdy and former owners of CityBird.

CityBird didn't have a good track record when it came to staying in business, did they???

I would have thought it was better to steer clear of people who ran an airline that went bankrupt eventually.

The problem is not with my text (that I just edited to make returns),
but with the picture on top of this thread, which pushed the right margin very far away.

Dear Comet,

I do not want to see any airline company go under. Problem is that it is not always a matter of 'logic' or even 'pure' economic or financial reasons. In case of Sobelair I would not be wondering that they go bankrupt deliberately. Why? To 'resolve' the problems that they are not able to resolve otherwise: problem of the lease of too expensive aircrafts, breaking the (correct) resistance of the personal for (even) lower salaries, get rid of (part of) the debts, etc.

I completely comply with your opinion, and also in Sabena's last months
pilots actions gave the impression of willingly choosing the path
    of bankrupcy.

It's true!
Sobelair Personal prefer a bankrupcy that a new owner, or a merger..
 financial reasons!! Remember the Vastapane deal with the two 737 owned by Sobelair: bankrupcy=planes sold and money for personal :pang:

Hellow

It was a shame of CityBird that they went bancrupt!!
Very nice colorsheme and some great people!! Yeah still there are some...!!
Also for Sobelair...because of the management(some) are lazy and moneycrazy the others are too??? Do you think this is not at other companies? The same story I think(Sabena, Swiss,...)
What I DO care is about the people that are working there...they did not strike at CityBird and they do not at Sobelair...thats :!:
And it is a shame that AGAIN a company will fall down with AGAIN such a great colorsheme and AGAIN a history, bases in Brussels will be gone!

Thats only my opinion(as spotter!)

Regards!

Tommyspotter,

SLR is not bankrupt. It even does not need money now, with 8 to 10 million € in the bank. But it will need money in December, a bad month for charters. It is in discussion with 3 potential investors, one of which is SN BA. And if the staff can be reasonable, if the lease of the B767s is renewed at better conditions, SLR is perfectly able to survive.
