Okay, first on topic: Looks very nice and comfy, really loved the toilet shot on the Facebook page, very space age. Shame I'll never fly it, ain't got the money But one can dream.
.
Second, euhm, how will I put this.. kinda feel guilty now because a key member will be on the ignore list of other key posters. This means, as mainly reader on these forums, that in the future I can expect to see less spicy debates. Yes, tiring stuff sometimes, but sometimes also interesting and out of the box-thinking with good info on both sides. Also many times, a good laugh..
.
Let's start my preachy nagging (soz): YES, I agree on occasion the comments basically became annoying page after page (within v short timelapse), all I can say (and already should've said maybe before in this topic) to Flanky, is to wait few hours longer before you post a reply, let a few other neutral comments be feeded in, and for the reader it becomes much more easy reading material, the chronology is totally different, and thus is the atmosphere.
.
Last nagg, if a forum is like a pool of water, keep it alive, let fresh water flow in, make it move, allow off-topics and silly things.. As soon as you start forbidding unpopular speech, it becomes a dead pool of water and disease will set in, a mud pool it will become. Let it flow.
.
Maybe Foe is a well chosen name for the function, it takes alot before someone is your Foe and you decide to really ignore them. Maybe in a way some of us already ignored him passively, that's good enough, like in real life. Flanker never replied to my posts in certain flooded topics. Was I Foe'd? Don't think so, but ignored yes. That's his right, if he thinks my posts are stupid or that I'm not good enough or even worth his time
.
An ignore function is too heavy for this.. on other boards, for the few times I've used it, it was against spammers, profanity, and real childish posts.. You will also notice it becomes harder to follow topics.
.
Plz reconsidder, just my two cents

Many valuable informations or discussion have a daily added value so long life Luchtzak ! It's a pleasure to discover so many wonderful pictures and read travel, airports or airlines reports !
Nevertheless, I sometimes have the feeling that some members firstly give interest to professionnals, even if it's very interesting. I'm an aviation lover or spotter as an hobby.
Brussels Airlines new business class looks great and will be a competitive product.
Greets.

To celebrate the opening of JFK and the new long haul product, SN will introduce a different summer uniform for part of the cabin crew shortly.... Can't say much more, but it looks really nice and will certainly not remain unnoticed.

There's an USB port however, so you can recharge your low power items that way in Y....Bralo20 wrote:It's a big improvement however, I would have added 110/230 volts in Y also!
Re: New long-haul revolutionary configuration at B.Airlines
I know but unfortunately a laptop isn't a low power item (most low power items like a smartphone or a iPad will last long enough anyway)... To bad they didn't think about it, this would put they right on par (or even above) other carriers. I can see it's not a big issue on the AFI ops but for TATL flights it's something I think it will be missed. (that and WiFi access like LH is installing on their fleet but that's maybe a bit to early for SN (and definitely to expensive) , I think that would suit them well in about 5 years or so (if and when) the long haul fleet can be replaced).tolipanebas wrote: There's an USB port however, so you can recharge your low power items that way in Y....
Anyway, for me it can't be 01JUN2012 soon enough... I really need my vacation and want to fly SN long haul for the first time (It's just stupid they won't allow upgrades with UA miles on non full fare tickets)

Re: New long-haul revolutionary configuration at B.Airlines
Oh, they thought about it for sure, but don't forget SN is having a high density Y configuration (250+ seats).
Having everybody recharge at the same time may just proof too big of a challenge on the electrical architecture of their oldest A333s.... Back in the mid 1990s, the need for power ports in cabin wasn't as high as it is today and so the electrical architecture and cabin wiring was very different/simpler than in today's planes...
Just ask Airbus about how complicated electrical wiring has become these days (e.g. The A380 wiring fuck up leading to years of program delays).

The competition doesn't sleep:
KLM confirms move to fully-flat seats
KLM is to launch a fully-flat business class seat next year, with Dutch designer Hella Jongerius commissioned to design both the seat and cabin interiors.
The airline’s managing director Erik Varwijk revealed plans for the fully-flat seat to the Dutch press last year, but it has taken until now for official confirmation from the carrier.

An interesting comment on Skytrax from a German men flying TXL-BRU-BJL-BRU-TXL:
His overal rating was 8/10, 4 stars for: value for money, seat comfort, staff service and entertainment, 5 stars for catering (I suppose that's because of his food to/from Banjul).
I can base my opnion only on a limited amount of reviews. But it seems that SN is doing really good on their long haul flights. Pax seem to be very happy with the crew, the food (which is called to be improved) and of course the new cabin. And with this review you can't say the service was 'better than normal' because it was a first flight like with JFK reviews, this was a regular flight like there are several others every day.
I guess they try to save money in the short haul catering? At least they seem to offer a great service in their long haul business class.European flights in b.flex, intercontinental ones in business class. Since I last flew Brussels Airlines in b.flex, there has been a significant decline in service. A year ago, you received a little tray with a salad, a cold meal and hot bread rolls. Now, it is down to a sandwich or a croissant depending on the time of day. European business class seemed to be down-graded, too. In business, you get now what you used to get in b.flex. Intercontinental flights in business class, however, were quite a different matter. On the way out to Banjul, the plane was equipped with the new business-class seats. In one row the seating arrangement is 1-2-1, in the next 2-1-2. Beds are fully lie-flat beds now. Meals were of an excellent quality for airline food, and flight attendants were attentive and constantly refilled your glasses. On the return to Brussels, the cabin layout in business class was the old 2-2-2 seating, so no lie-flat beds, which was a pity as it was a night flight departing at 22.45 local time. Service was a bit rushed, but then everyone was eager to get at least a couple of hours of sleep before breakfast was served at 5.45 CET.

Which A330's have been refurbished until now?
OO-SFM, OO-SFV and OO-SFW?
When are the other ones going to be done?
seems that all A330 are active right now, and that none is in Malta for the moment.
Thanks,
Duke

Re: New long-haul revolutionary configuration at B.Airlines
We did enjoy the new long haul configuration on the brussels airlines BRU-NYC flights.
Only the headrests are a bit too large in Economy... a little difficult to lay your head back in the seat... Otherwise, that is perfect!

Lufthansa are also introducing new business class seats. They seem to have adopted a completely other design than their daughters SN and LX:

Yes it's typicall for them to do it different on the long haul part. OS on the other side is also said to introduce the same C-class as LX and SN.
Re: New long-haul revolutionary configuration at B.Airlines
Brussels Airlines was awarded by Global Traveler (the leading American business traveler magazine) in the catagory "Best overall International Business Class wines". They ended on the 3rd place in the catagory for champagne in business class.
The jury exists of 28 specialists (sommeliers, wine producers and wine shop owners), they taste and rate wines from airlines from all over the world.
SN also had some individuel wines in the top-5:
- Champagnes: Laurent Perrier: 3rd place
- White Wines: Les Vieux Murs Pouilly-Fuissé 2009, Burgundy, France: 3rd place
- Red Wines: Tenuta Frescobaldi di Castiglioni 2009, Tuscany, Italy (4th place) and Château de Rochemorin 2006, Bordeaux, France (5th place)
SN's selection always consists out of a wine from a renowned French house, a well-known world wine and a 'suprise wine'. They also serve Belgian wines which are highly appreciated by the passengers.

The chateau Rochemorin is indeed a very nice red wine. I try to have it each time I fly SN in business.
Re: New long-haul revolutionary configuration at B.Airlines
Could somebody post an overview listing which planes have been refurbished with the new interior?
