Tuifly seems to be flying again from BRU to Ohrid, North Macedonia as from 06JUN20 until 05SEP20. Looks like triangular flight with Tivat.
Was it announced with other destinations?

The new TUI-Brussels airlines deal is a opportunity for both airlines.
One lost a contract (Thomas Cook) and the other has still a few grounded aircrafts.
If TUI would expand its deal with Brussels airlines then they could operate new routes instead.

Re: TUI fly Belgium in 2019
I see this more as damage control rather than an opportunity.
TUI desperately needs capacity and is forced to pay more than it would cost to operate the flights themselves. SN is desperate to sell some of their spare weekend/holiday capacity, even at a small loss, to reduce the costs.
A sensible temporary fix but not a good base for a long term cooperation.

Re: TUI fly Belgium in 2019
Is there a reason why TUI does not yet decide to store its 737 MAX aircraft in a more airplane friendly climate, such as e.g. Moses Lake or any other better ( warmer, dryer ) place than BRU ? I might imagine they could get approval for ferry flights, no ? As it seems this type of plane will not be allowed to take the skies in the next days, they do not need them close-by, do they ?
Re: TUI fly Belgium in 2019
Plenty of reasons:
-Moses Lake is 8000km from Brussels, quite a distance at 200 kts and FL200.
-planning and trying to obtain permission to ferry a MAX across the Atlantic will probably be impossible
-they haven’t flown for over 8 months, so they need extensive maintenance anyway.

What is your issue with an airline leasing an aircraft to solve an AOG i wonder?TLspotting wrote: ↑13 Dec 2019, 15:17 Another aircraft leased.

Re: TUI fly Belgium in 2019
Thanks Poiu, as written in my message for the careful reader, I wrote “any other place”. I could imagine countries such as Spain, Morocco, some regions in the Middle East perhaps or even UAE would be more suitable...

As it concerns TUI fly Belgium, I only mention it. Maybe my first sentence was too much. I'm sorry about that.sean1982 wrote: ↑14 Dec 2019, 13:11What is your issue with an airline leasing an aircraft to solve an AOG i wonder?TLspotting wrote: ↑13 Dec 2019, 15:17 Another aircraft leased.

Re: TUI fly Belgium in 2019
Problems remains the same:
-extensive maintenance before ferry
-long complicated flight
-extensive maintenance and complicated ferry again repositioning to Brussels for modification next year.
If they would have known, from the beginning, the grounding was for a year they would probably have stored them somewhere more south though.
Re: TUI fly Belgium in 2019
In Europe there are "warm" places for storage:Teruel in Spain is the best known, so maybe this could have been an option!
