Confirmation? I read "plan"...
And still no date.

Startup seems to be currently postponed because of delayed delivery schedule of new aircraft.
Their press release confirms that the Brussels-Toronto project is still alive.

Your quote indicates that this is Belgium all right, the most pessimistic country in Europe. Etihad Airways never released a start-up date for their Brussels operations. The time-frame May or June is what the local press made of it. That's their problem, and apparently also yours. Etihad Airways itself has no worries at all, none whatsoever.

Glad to hear that.

I was not pessimistic, just realistic. We heard already about so many announcements of new routes or carriers in Brussels which were cancelled a few days or weeks after the announcement, that one has learned to be cautious.

Demol...The MOle?

ANyhoo - you got to wonder about Etihads strategy sometimes...i have no doubt they will start up to Brussels soon enough but at what frequency? If you look at their timetable htey have flights going to cities rarely every day and often at different times each day. Bizarre - I know they may be slot restrained but i guess this is down to the fact they really don;t need to make money. Believe it or not EK so have show profit and cover their outlayings....not so with Etihad and likely never will be.

ABU DHABI - Etihad Airways begins a daily new connection between Abu Dhabi and the German business-city Frankfurt. With this route, the company introduces a second destination in Germany. Etihad flies since 2004 to München. Since February this year, the same company flies twice a week a cargo-line to Frankfurt.

Etihad will put an Airbus A330-200 on the route wich gives place to 225 passengers in three classes.

This year, Etihad also expects to start connections to Toronto, Brussels and Johannesburg.

This is a rumour for a long time. They mentioned Brussels in different press articles, also Toronto and Johannesburg as new destinations.
They want to open this line in 2005. First it was June after some time it's suspended to the end of October. It's a big question.
It would be nice, they have very nice airplanes 8)

Map, Macquary Airport, is making EBBR very attractive for new airlines. I think that we will see this result in a few months, end of this year, or next year. You have to give this a change.

I would say, Map go for it!!!!!!!!!!! :D

I think it could be via Brussels. Do they have for the moment an airplane that can fly direct to Toronto?
Etihad had to buy, or lease, new aircraft to fly these new routes.
